Such a beautiful dog.
She is not overweight in any of these pictures. She looks ideal weight to me. As what Chafe above said, the abdominal tuck is clearly visible.
This is the body conditioning chart we were taught to use in a pet nutrition class I took in college: [link] Your dog looks to be at a 5. You can get a better idea by feeling her chest, if you can't easily feel the ribs, then she may be overweight.
I'd say you are doing a good job caring for her. She looks very healthy in these pictures. If she is overweight, its just a few pounds.

Thank you for the chart. From what I understand, the CSWs are to be more like 3 to 4 like here [link] the last two ribs should be clearly visible when the dog is walking, but with all that fur I'm not sure we would see them even if she was in condition 1...;]

She's gorgeous. I've wanted one of those dogs for a while but I don't think there are any breeders in the U.S and if there are I haven't found them yet.

I think there are some breeders and it is possible to import dogs too, you can find information on this forum> [link]
they write at the end of the thread that there is a first breeder in USA, Marcy Goldstone of Galomy Oaks in Virginia:]

From what I understand, in some countries the authorities are concerned about the wolfish part of this breed.
They don't accept that Czechoslovakian wolfdog or Saarloos wolfdog are DOG breeds, with NO new wolf blood input for several decades.
Throwing these dogs in bag together with real wolf and dog hybrids and even wolves, they don't wan't these "dangerous" animals to be freely available to just anyone.
But there IS a substantial difference between the nature of a CS wolfdog and a wolf. CSW were now for more than forty years carefully selected and tested in work and in character so that only the good specimens were allowed to have offspring. You can imagine how this selection influenced the characteristic of this dog breed for the best.
I think it's just the age-old prejudice against wolves. Media like to cause panic, and wolves killing sheep (as it happens in Norway where the sheep are left unguarded to graze in the wild and where there are few wolves still living in the wild) are depicted as wild killing machines, just waiting to eat your children on their way to school. Wolfdogs for their breed name and visual similarity to wolves are simply trown in too.

ah.. okay, i understand. The good thing is, that, with time, they will be allowed in Norway too i think. I will assume that a few decades isnt enough for the country,so a few more and there will be no problem aah... poor people, not getting the chance to meet a dog like that.

What a beautiful dog This is one of my favorite breeds, so noble and wild looking. Sadly they aren't legal in my country, and even if they were I don't have suitable place for one.
You're very lucky to have such a pretty dog ^^

I am lucky, I know;] I love to photograph her. You are from Norway? I heard the CSW were banned there.
Well, you can always come visit us in Prague, Raksha will lick you to death:]

Doesn't look like she ever lost the visible tuck in her belly before it meets the legs. She's probably not [i]too[/i] overweight. Depends on the genes, too, though - my husky has been a perfectly healthy 63-pounder all her life, as her dad was a solid block of muscle.
Love the way Raksha moves.

Last time we checked she was 70 pounds, and the breeder said it is too much, next week or so she even visited us and checked with her own hands, and -surprised- said, that Raksha wasn't fat. (second row, last picture)
Than we met a month ago again, and that was when Raksha was called fat:] (third row, second to last)
Well she is full of energy and ever-hungry just as usual now, so I think she isn't suffering anorexia:]

My understanding is show dogs are generally expected to be quite light. A little like supermodels, but far less extreme. In any case, Raksha absolutely glows with health, so I'm not about to tell you you're doing anything wrong!
The website devoted to your pets is very well-done, by the way. I loved the section for your rat, and the pictures of Raksha and Shiva growing up together.

Haha, next time I give her oats with egg and she'll look at me saying "What, no meat today either??" I'll tell her about supermodels:]
I'm glad you liked the website, Mignon the rat is sending her hello. Or maybe not, it seems she is sleeping right now. Well:]
