Its incorrect to say that vista only allows 4gb of ram ..Vista 32bit and also the 64 bit will see as much ram as your motherboard can handle ..I have run vista 32 bit with 8gb of ram successfully many times ..Of course I run windows 7 now..

Umm no its not

32 bit will restrict the amount of allowed memory

"If a computer has 4 gigabytes (GB) of random-access memory (RAM) installed, the system memory that is reported in the System Information dialog box in Windows Vista is less than you expect.

For example, the System Information dialog box may report 3,120 megabytes (MB) of system memory on a computer that has 4 GB of memory installed (4,096 MB). "

64 Bit OS then yes it will USE the amount of memory that is installed and yes it does depend on your Mother board but idc if you have one made of gold on 32 bit vista you will NOT use over 3.x memory you will NEVER use more! 64 bit yes..

Please learn what you are talking about.. and I too run "Windows 7 Professional 64-Bit" with 8 Gigs of OCZ Gold now... sigh

I am A+ certified and am working on my Bach (computer prog) in Computer Science I too have been building computers since 1995 so not to say you are wrong man or point fingers but a 32-bit windows OS restricted the physical memory that is actually recognized by the operating system. Granted your Mother Board allows more (which mine does too) hence me going to a 64-bit OS that allowed me to put what my specs on my ASUS MB allow.. which I can add more but for time being I have 8 Gigs of OCZ Gold running on a "64-Bit" OS (windows 7 Pro). Look it up if you need to verify...

I will look it up , I must admit , I am more of a hardware person than a software person ..I am the one people come to when that dc jack needs repaired in the laptop. I am a microsoft beta tester , so of course when Win 7 came out I got my free demo of the 64 bit version immediately .I am now only running the 32 bit win 7 home premium ..I love it ..
Thanks ..

ahh nice

Ive done my share of beta's mostly in gaming industry but a few programs as well. It's fun finding the bugs and problem areas. Im more of a software guy but I can fix and build most systems only problem is if a part is fried or no good most of the time I don't have the tools to fix it so its just time for a new part.

BTW nice to meet you even if we did have our little debate man! Happy late thanksgiving.

Happy Late thanksgiving to you as well ..Oh and BTW , any debate is a good debate ..I am always open to learn new things .
If I were a gamer , i would most likely have built my current system ,unfortunately I didnt .Instead i bought an off the shelf Acer ..Not bad for the price .. I currently run it through a 512mb video card into a 22 wide screen TV for my monitor ..

My Name Is
Todd..
Only bug with windows 7 , my guitar rig program doesnt work ..I need to either dual boot and put in a windows vista partition or buy a laptop for that.

Cause vista only allows 4 gigs and shows 3.2 on mine (32 bit OS) so I installed 4 gigs on wifes also. OCZ Gold is the memory I went with. So to install anymore then 2x 2 gig sticks is silly. Latency is low also!

why don't you run the x64 version ??

or just XP cause vista sucks

Well although I do agree on vista and its problems I use it for many reason. As for the 64 bit version I never went with it over the problems it caused with the games I play on my computers. Windows 7 is out in october so we shall see soon if I stay or upgrade.

Ya thought about it just not too keen on beta os's. With that said the only way to get the rc release is on torrents now they only offer keys for the rc not the dl itself.
