Thanks for sharing this. It's very informative & a help to admiring artists such as myself.
It's always nice seeing a finished piece, but it's even better when you can get a grasp on the time & effort that the artist put into it. Makes you appreciate the piece even more.
How long does it take you to do a piece like this?

The times vary since I'm very lazy. lol If I know what I want to draw then probably 7 to 8 hrs. Some pieces do go quicker but I like to take my time. Its weird to stay but coloring doesnt take that much time (maybe an hour or 2).

I've heard others emphasize on the time it takes to do a picture. Do you think that's important?

daikkenaurora In reply to nate-vega [2009-12-07 23:05:11 +0000 UTC]

mmmm Not really. Unless you are doing professional work or on a deadline, time really shouldnt matter. For me its more about making something cool and having fun.

I agree with the professional aspect, but wasn't sure about the personal. Channeling one's creativity artistically should indeed be fun. I think a piece comes out better that way anyways, unless you're just that skilled and/or talented where it doesn't seem to reflect in the art.
Thanks for the insight.

And since I'm not at the level of just pushing out quality work without having some interest in it, I'll just have to keep doing sexy women. LOL

Thank you generously for this amazing gift daikkenaurora and also for making it easy to read. Can`t tell you how pointless some people's tutorials can be when they're the only ones who can read it, lol.

Question about you inking though, I got this Pentel EnerGel I've been using and it does such a sloppy job. Any recommendations on something better and kind of flows with your hand over a bumpy feeling?

Well since my eyesight isnt too great, I tried to make the reading a bit easier for my eyes. If I can read it then anyone else can.

I dont mess with anything 'gel'. they tend to be runny and require some time to fully dry. I can only recommend the micron pens since its what I use but you can also get a fountain pen with changeable cartidges if you like. those also work well since the ink flows nicely and dries fast.

Agreed and its incredibly painful when seeing some tutorials go at something to a point where all the words are too damn small to read and as you said straining the eyes.

That sounds reasonable and do feel your love for quick drying ink, that's a lifesaver. Thanks lad and had one more question for you if you wouldn't mind.

Right now the pens and paper I use are okay but having a concern when it comes to inking and literally having to ink the same lines again. Well aware of pressure and all that jazz but even on a simple line I draw it and it comes out very faded and I have to do it again (this usually is the reason for error). Now besides the pens do you think its the paper, cause right now its meant specifically for inking, neutral PH, bleedproof, smooth and is 110 lb.

hmmmm well it could be the paper but 110 lb paper is good to use. maybe the ink your using isnt dark enough. India ink should come out nicely dark.

Oh had heard about India ink a few times but can't seem to find any around here, the art stores here are much more limited to say the least (not to mention half your supplies break when you take them home, bleh).

Thanks Dai, shall experiment with that and see if I can a hold of that India Ink!

Those markers piss me off. They cost a bundle, and then they bled like I cut an artery when I tried using them (we're talking bled around a quarter inch here at least).

really? as you can see, I got no real bleeding at all. You really just have to get use to using them.

Ownerest In reply to daikkenaurora [2009-08-04 09:09:22 +0000 UTC]

Not entirely, some women's cooch slits are longer than others, while others are smaller, in terms of having to actually look up under there, which we can't do with this pic.

And no, Barbie doesn't make me Rawr anymore. Not after she fooled around with Ken and that new guy.

Has she ever made you rawr?
