Description I found this acrylic painting in the closet, that was done back in the day. It's very old, but i think it's time to be seen by you guys, rather than just be buried amidst the books and sundry items.Β  I always liked these two monsters.

Nice work. It's definitely different to your usual work. It's amazing

I was doing acrylic paintings all the time, then got into watercolors. Always liked kaiju. Godzilla is my favorite but now Gamera is edging him out...you like giant monsters?

Well, I guess I suppose so. I guess my first sort of exposure to it was Power Rangers (or at least the end battles featuring giant robots and what not has similar theme). i honestly can't say I've actually gone to the effort though. Never saw the '97 version of Godzilla and I remember trying to watch all the films when they were showing them on TV late around christmas some years ago. I saw Godzilla vs King Kong but less said about that the better.

King Kong vs.Godzilla wasn't that bad. At least it wasn't a 3 hour snoozefest like most of the movies currently being made!Β  It was funny, and since then i've heard it was not meant to be serious.

Yeah, i didn't take it seriously. I watched it off the back of the 1933 original so it felt a little different. Didn't the sequel have a character called Dr. Who?

Yes, "King Kong Escapes." There's this "international Judas", called Dr. Who, whose got this criminal organization, and they've built a Robot Kong! It turns out they need the real Kong. This Kong also has a thing for the ladies, and takes up with this very cute little blonde, Susan.Β  Then there's a big fight on Tokyo tower, and lots of things get busted up. The usual.

Well, it's hardly the greatest movie in the world. i'd like to remake it with bikini scenes!

Well, there was a beach. A jungle. It was the South seas! All tropical. And there's your cute little blonde. Of course there's got to be a bikini scene! She's all trim and petite, You can put her into a smaller bikini. Then when the novelty wears off, you bring in a monster like dinosaur or a sea serpent.Β  More incentive for Kong to do something.

dalek-hal In reply to MartynThings [2014-05-29 22:11:20 +0000 UTC]

Oh, i don't know. She'd have to be a blonde. Kong likes blondes. All Apes like blondes. not all that familiar with the current actresses. A cute unknown. Could always use Rose from Dr. Who. She could be the Monkey's squeeze.Β  Be right at home.Β  There's A Dr. Who there as well.

Well, of course. Maybe a little Doctor Who/KK crossover?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

dalek-hal In reply to MartynThings [2014-05-30 21:09:51 +0000 UTC]

That could work. Rose and the Doctor, decide to visit the past to see dinosaurs, but end up on Mondo Island, where the Japan Kong lives. The doctor is mistaken by the authorities as "Dr. Who". You know, this might work better with the Jon PertweeΒ  Doctor and hisΒ  blonde assistant,Β  Jo Grant. He looks something like the Japanese Dr. Who.

You've got this all figured out, don't you?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

dalek-hal In reply to MartynThings [2014-05-31 22:45:19 +0000 UTC]

Well, that Kong movie was back in '68. The Nihon Who kind of looks like Pertwee, sort of, at least in costume, and he also had a cute companion,Mie Hama. She was a Bond girl! Any way, a mistaken identity is a common Dr. Who plot device.
Β Β  I figure Kong sees Jo, and she becomes his object of amour.
Β  Yeah, even without a Dr. who crossover, i figure this could be a good popcorn pic!Β  Have Apes, Robots, bikinis, and urban demolitions, what's not to like?

Saw the Wind Rises.Β  that was typical Ghibli, which always excellent. Saw Godzilla, which while the Monsters were great, has the lamest cast, and it's so looongggg....! Just came back from Maleficent. Enjoyed it very much, and i think it'll be hit. Haven't seen X-Men yet, though i've heard good things.

I looked up the Wind Rises. No where local which is a shame but definitely a watch later down the line. By the looks of it Xmen will be the choice. At least it's a series in familiar with.

dalek-hal In reply to MartynThings [2014-06-02 18:22:18 +0000 UTC]

I'm a little leery of it. The original story showed a lot of X-Men coming to very nasty ends, and the Sentinels have turned the world into a death camp...

Saw it yesterday! Slightly annoyed I got a ticket to a 3D screening (It cost just under a tenner instead of 6 quid) but yeah, I enjoyed. It felt a little dragged out in parts but it was really good fun!

MartynThings In reply to dalek-hal [2014-06-05 10:22:46 +0000 UTC]

Well, I'll be honest, I'm completely out of the loop with comic books so solely as a film, I really enjoyed it. Mind you, the friends I have that are more into comic books said it was brilliant. So what I can say is check it out for sure. If I liked it then I'm sure you'll love it.

I'll probably make the effort, then! I've heard good things from other people as well. Again, a little trepidacious...i know a lot of characters meet grisly ends. I remember that scene in" Revenge of the Sith" where the Emperor gives the order 66. And immediately The Jedi Knights areΒ  slaughtered en masse in the field.i
