I found this acrylic painting in the closet, that was done back in the day. It's very old, but i think it's time to be seen by you guys, rather than just be buried amidst the books and sundry items.Β I always liked these two monsters.Related content

Yeah! Two of my favorite monsters. I love the older Japanese SF movies for their wild imagination, and crazy plotlines.

Same here, but my favorite kaiju is Gamera, the Flying super turtle. My OC, Anjerra, was once a little girl , part of the group of kids cheering him on in his battles with evil kaiju.

I like the first two Gamera movies but find the rest tough to sit through at times. It was ok for the producers to aim the movies at kids but didn't they think kids wanted to see good movies?

Well, My favorite ones Gamera vs. Gyaos, and Gamera vs. Viras.Β And i think the movies are fine when you consider they're aimed at grade schoolers.Β I think adults expect too much from this stuff.Β Β Β A kid doesn't see it the way we do. They take it literally.Β When I was a kid, i took the Adam West Batman seriously. It was comedy for older folks but i thought it was scary and real.
Β I was once asked to go a store opening dressed as Batman.Β And the kids saw me as Batman,didn't like it if i went out of character. So I was Batman.
Β I loaned out some silly Super hero videos to a day care center...Spectreman . I thought they'd see them as ridiculous and Β silly.Β They were returned to me the next day.. The Kids thought they were scary! One story involvedΒ a little boy's father, turned into a trash eating monster. Kids thought it was upsetting, Their parents turnedΒ into monsters!
Β And Ganera's movies would've continued, but the whole studio went bankrupt.

I don't really like Gamera vs. Zigra. Slow and boring. Don't much care for Super Monster Gamera either.Β Godzilla movies? I hate Godzilla vs, Gigan!Β Don't like Terror of Mechagodzilla either. Dullsville.
Β Now the New Gamera movies are excellent.

I never bothered with the new Gamera movies or the Japanese Godzilla films made after 2000. I did make an exception for Shin Godzilla and like that a lot.

Really/ I wasn't sure what to make of them at first, but they're so good!Β Β I like the Gameras better than any of the Heisei or millenium Godzillas.
Β I saw Shin Godzilla. Such a strange take on the Original. Must admit, it's the most destructive of them all.

Shin Godzilla was intended to be a satire on Japanese politics and inspired by the 2011 earthquake, tsunami and nuclear plant disaster that occurred in the country. The Godzilla in that movie is ferocious!

Good to know! Though, i've mostly been drawing Gamera and his foes.Β The Showa ones. The newer ones are difficult because references are blurry. Legion and Iris are tough.

Legion is very difficult. It seems to be a cross of a of beetle, crab, grasshopper, and earwig, and it never seems to be shown in its entirety. Iris reminds me more of a an EVA suit, with ghost; ly tentacles, and a voice like a vacuum cleaner. A lot easier doing Viras. Gyaos or Barugon.

THey may have been silly , but they were never boring.Β I always re-watch Showa era movies but rarely Heisei.Β Β Β NewΒ Godzilla is just this big, brainless, plodding, death ray thing.

So why is he so popular?Β He's no hero. Not anymore. He's just this giant reptile death ray. He has no personality. He has no fighting style. Eiji Tsuburaya would weep at what he's become.

And i'm not even referring to Shin Gojira. That thing looks like it can barely move. Rumors of unbelievable power, and an orgy of destruction, without even trying. And how fickle fans are, saying how lame and sorryΒ Legandary Godzilla is compared to this new monster.

No. I left Japan before the movie came out.Β So, i've read about it online.Β there's not really much about it. Spoilers.Β Supposedly Funimation has the rights, and will release it. Why them? They release anime video.Β They're a very little fish. None of the big companies wanted it? What does that say?

THanks again. I noticed in other movies, Rodan gets more stiff and inflexible. His head isn't as reptilian. His wings don't move. He looks clumsy on the ground and like a puppet, or a kite in the air.Β I prefer him also, with two horns, not three.

Same here.Β Japanese monster movies played all the time with all the kids and their parents and friends. Mothra, Godzilla, and Gamera were always welcome here. So were all the more traditional fare, like LOTR, Star Wars, Batman, Other SF and fantasy movies...and Disney!And Anime.

I'm not usually biased. Anything that has a great story, is worth watching/playing in my opinion. I've seen animes like Clannad and Air all the way to Elfen Lied and Corpse Party. I love monsters from Pokemon all the way to Persona, Godzilla, Digimon, Final Fantasy, and more. TV shows range for me too, I love the suspenseful ones and creepy ones the most, but I don't mind watching stuff like Once Upon a Time and The Big Bang Theory.
But yeah, like I said, because I'm not biased, I have a wide range of shows, anime, and games that I like, seen, and/or playedΒ Β . Theres a lot that I havent either. Theres just not enough time in a day to watch all that I want to watch lolΒ Β

It looked like Rodan could shrug off Godzilla's rays. Rodan is pretty tough. Even an erupting volcano only rendered him unconscious. And Godzilla and him fought all day!

well, i was thinking the godzilla from 1964, the one that fought Mothra and Ghidrah, with a little more dinosaur in his face.Β Rodan is the original version. In his first movie, his wings seemed more flexible, and his body moved. i was thinking of a flying, flapping creature giving Godzilla a hard time.
