Description
And . . . . won! This placed first in the Captain America: Fighting Styles redesign contest at Project: Rooftop .
So the idea is to take Captain America back to his roots and look at military uniform design right before the beginning of WWII. Specifically I looked at the style of General George S. Patton himself and his uniform designs for the Tank Cavalry . The aesthetic continues into today with motorcycle cops

I love this more military look for Steve. I also like how the coat matches perfectly with the stars-and-stripes pattern, along with the shirt going along with it.

I like the balance between superhero and realistic uniform. I can see this guy leading a special platoon of "Soldiers America"

I especially love the striped shirt with the red gloves and blue gun straps and belt. Cool design. Wouldn't mind US agent switching to a costume like this. In fact, he should right now.

Now that will be better than his movie "Avengers" costume.
WWII suit is ok.

I can see this has being a top ten redesign... very good halfway point between pulp magazine adventurers and classic superheroes.
I can see the A on his helmet changing minutly as he goes up in actual rank, "Captain" just being part of his codename after all, and after sixty years activity, he probably would be a five-star general by now
One question -- what changes, if any, to his shield? We don't get much more than a sideways view to it here.

Thank you. The shield remains the shield. It was a omission of mine not to draw it in all it's bullseye glory.

This is a totally classic redesign, love how the wings are like flags too and the stars as the A. Good concepts.

I LOVELOVELOVE this look!
Some folks seem to be having trouble with the helmet, but I think it's the perfect substitute for that weird superhero mask we've all grown accustomed to.
The look isn't very super-hero-y, but I'm of the opinion that super hero design in general should draw from what makes the character unique rather than "How can we apply this guy's gimmick to spandex?" So BRAVO!
P.S. - The flag/wings on his helmet are amazing.

Yay! thought you would like it.
It may not be very superhero, but I think
PulpHeroes > SuperHeroes
Real men wear suits, and at the very least form has to follow function.

I have to say, pretty awesoma design ideas on this costume.
Although I'm not too fond of the helmet, the starred A and the combination of the striped shirt and the jacket is really well-thought of.
Congratulations, I hope this one gets some recognition on PR!

And yet another great design on Cap's costume. (Although I must admit I do think the helmet and goggles may be a bit too much. Maybe if they were in the same style as Ultimate Cap's then maybe you've got something)

maybe, but then It wouldn't have been much of a "redesign".
OH, and thanks.

From a battle point of view ... I think Cap would love this new suit ... Once the coat is off. I like it! It's kind of an old style suit ... But considering the Captain has been active in WWII he must be nostalgic about his clothing choices! Nice work again!

Thank you. I love the costume without the jacket as well. I think it gives him a Doc Savage look (which was totally intentional). As far as nostalgia goes (besides that "everything old becomes new again") Steve Rogers practically embodies it.
