I had plans to put more stuff in the tentacles, like a hairbrush and a can of hairspray, but it didn't turn out so well so I left it like this.

So you did a commission too - this is wonderful, and not too sugarey sweet for a little girl. Love the idea with the octopus. Your work generally is very good. How do you do it? Jag tar mig friheten att skriva en note och fråga.

That is amazing, Dan! You did such a fantastic job on the realism of the girl and the skin; as usual, the lighting is incredibly done as well! (I love her dress,) Well done!

Thanks!
I had a great referencephoto to go from, so the realism wasn't that challenging. The biggest challenge, I think, is to reinvent the image and the concept and to come up with ideas on how to build upon the original and then how to execute it.
I do appreciate and envy the skill that certain people have in reproducing images/phots in a superrealistic fashion. But I don't see the point in just reproducing something without using the possibilities and the qualities, like rough brushstrokes and spatter, of the materials at hand.
