A truly beautiful rendering, though I'm sorry to hear about the HD crash. I would love to know the story behind the shuttle's unfortunate voyage, if there is one .

This is quite an image and has its own story. One can feel the tension in the image. A really great piece of art work. On the technical side, I was never quite certain whether the TOS era shuttles were warp capable or not. Obviously the nacelles at the side are mock-ups of the ones on the Enterprise. However, there must be a vastly miniaturized warp core within them, or in the lower hull below the deck plates. If they were warp driven, that plasma streaming from them could have minute particles of antimatter in the stream. And as we all know A/M does not play well with the universe. Were I the pilot of that shuttle I would request my crew be beamed inboard the Enterprise, and then request that the remaining plasma be manually or remotely purged. Then have the shuttle tractored into the hanger deck, or destroyed.

The TOS Enterprise has no "Warp Core" at all: that bit was introduced with TNG. Also, it's shuttles are NOT powered by antimatter, but by fusion reactors, since they are smaller and have far lower energy requirements. They are definitely Warp capable: they can travel from one edge of a solar system to another in less time than light would.

The shuttle could easily be salvaged.

It looks like it could be a scene from the episode "Let That Be Your Last Battlefield"

Love the energy streamers training from the nacelles.

I am not sure of my facts regarding the shuttles in TOS. I did not think they were warp capable, (not at that size) and if they were I would think they would require a lot of beefing up of shielding. If they were warp capable that plasma trail could have minute particles of anti-matter in it. And as we all know, A/M does not like to play nice with the rest of the universe. Were I the pilot of that ship I would be highly suspect of taking the shuttle inboard the Constitution Class's hanger deck. I would probably request my crew be beamed inboard, and the shuttle be remotely drained of all fuel, before being tractored into the hanger deck and/or destroyed as a safety precaution.

Love the damage detail to this - and I adore the energy colours - it feels like a clip from an actual film!

Excellent!

Most Impressive not to mention that would have to be Scotty flying that baby to survive that much damage and still be able to fly!!

It's a David Metlesits model. I thought the original rar file was destroyed in a HD crash along with the 1701 file. However I did some searching and found the model again and gave proper credit.

Thanks
d.
