Oh. My. God.I hate that background. I hate it. I hate it. I HATE IT! ಠ_ಠ
(almost) lineart-less drawing!
And I'm not sure if I even like it. 
I tried to make this look kick-ass awesome. I'VE FAILED MY MISSION! ;___;
That Transmutation circle was hell. ಠ_ಠ Please don't look too closely at it.
Anyway, complaining aside, I've been listening to Patrick Stump a lot lately (Better known as the lead singer of Fall Out Boy) And I said to a friend yesterday that I wanted to draw some Full Metal Alchemist fanart... And the two merged. Somehow. :L
I'm not sure how well "Spotlight" fits with Ed, but ah well. :I

Edward is perfect, apart from you perhaps made the hair the slightest, slightest bit too flat on the top.

The light's not too bad. Maybe try making it more a gradient, having the light quite bright at the top, and getting yellower as it gets lower.

I might try that next time, it's just hard to make gradients in SAI. =___=
I just know that I won't be able to draw Alphonse's armour. XD So I'm not even going to try. :L

It's hard to even be able to read some of it whilst zoomed in. :/
...and compared to a lot of people I know, I can read writing hell of a lot smaller than they can partially due to glasses. XD

I guess I can see what you're disliking about it, but why are you stating it?
Pointing out your mistakes is a mistake in itself as well, remember? XD
The background isn't as bad as you're making out though, you just need to blur the darker patches nearer the top corners more and the arc slightly away from the "transmutation circle". With the light fading in to darkness, possibly a little heavy on the blurring?
I can't really say anything though negatively since you've done way better than I would. XD

So you you may have only loosely said what was wrong, but you did point out the bits you dislike the most. :/

...and fair enough. It's just where some of it doesn't blend in with the background, yet some of it seems really blurred in comparison. It's just where the amount of blur is patchy, or is that deliberate?

I only argue when argued with, I never try to make others argue. I must admit though, it does happen on occasions without meaning to. Everyone does time to time. XD
It's often hard for me to put the emotion I meant across, and for the person to realise what I meant, so I can fully understand why you thought that I may be trying to argue with you.
The truth is, I don't like arguing with you. It just happens between us 'cause we BOTH misinterpret things. I think you know the reasons why we both do as well. :/
