I've got a fun story for you, Dan!
So my parents created an animation program called Animation Stand, one of the first digital animation programs, which was used for a time by both Warner Brothers Animation and Disney. They took my older sister, who was about 5 at the time, with them to a meeting at Warner Bros, and she was hopping around the waiting room to the office going "boingy bongy boingy...!"
Two animators came out of an animation room seeming frustrated until they spotted her bouncing around, and they grinned at each other and shouted "YES!"
They ran back into the animation room, and Dot was born.
