well, finally, a proper formal reintroduction of the main antagonist of the Syron story. For those of you unfamiliar, this is Kaius Grey, Syron's pyromaniac of a father, and owner of the beta strain of the Hylex crystal mutation, which allows him to conduct and manipulate the energy wavelengths responsible for thermal radiation and heat.
This project took alot longer than I initially planned, but I had an idea for it for a while (since march? I dunno.). This was also me really pushing my limits on my still painting quality, and I can honestly say I haven't crossed into this level of detail before, and I'm pretty proud of how I did. This is a combination of frame-by-frame animation and silhouette work, flash scripting, and aftereffects work all in one (seriously theres probably 80 lines of code controlling the functions in this, and couple that with more voice acting from me. Think of it as the counterpart to Metamorphosis which you received earlier this year. I'll provide a slightly more detailed look at Kaius steamgloves and design work when I upload the still image later on, including the concept drawings which I worked on long before actually starting his painted design. Honestly, the reason this particular animation took so long was me taking an old character of mine, redesigning it with my current influences in mind (and not sonic ones, gah) and rendering it to the best of my abilities.
So how'd I do?
Also, alot of this was inspired by cold-war American nuclear-age themes and Fallout inspiration. It was intended to be done in that manner as Kaius represents a more dangerous yet slightly older and unrefined technology in comparison to Syron, who is more controlled and streamlined, yet not as volatile. Was an unusual twist for me, but overall, this project pushed some major boundaries for me and kicked all sorts of a$$ in the process.
Thanks for your patience with me this year, (i know I'm slow to upload, but now you know why)

photoshop and firealpaca for the art side, aftereffects for animation composition, and flash as an exporter module.
sound design is done with audacity and garageband

wow, don't know what any of that is but sounds like a long, time consuming and hard process...... also, are you going to make an animated series or a comic series? cause the art you make seems like you might start either

I want to learn to animate things like this... I can do simple animations using photoshop but haven't worked up the skill/patience to try Flash.. I think I had problems the time i did try using flash and could not figure out how to use it for the life of me.. but your animations are just... wow.. awesome!
Maybe someday I'll figure it out. xD

this has to be my most favorite animation yet. i love how it came in as a different feel in the beginning with the tv and then changed to the shot when the "please standby" came in and went to the evil, sinister, epic vibe when the character came to play with the glowing eyes and dark frame. it's beautiful, it's incredible and i can definitely see the artistic concentration and detail put into this. amazing in every way. fantastic job.

Not going to lie. Seeing this and your gallery in full has been the most refreshing thing to see online when it comes to anthro work and you made my day today. I just love what you've done with the coloring on this. but then there's the animations and faaaa-...i can't, well yes i have no words and am pretty much speechless. This is amazing dude.
I'm one who enjoys reading into stories and comics and i'm looking forward to seeing what you do with the Syron story of yours. Looking forward to more.

wow thank you so much. I like mixing the quality of my paintings with motion in larger contexts to make something pretty extreme. It's too fun xD. I really hope in the future I can really open up Sy's story more because it's really complicated, but has about 5 years of work on it. It needs to get out there more.
