Love GA and did see the episode on it. TAPS have also been there too. I'm was more thrilled that I was at the place 12 Monkeys and Transformers was filmed at.

Eastern State Penitentiary is open to the public as a historical ruins. It's cheap to get in and you don't have to take a tour at all. You don't have to pay anything to bring a camera in just a tripod. So all my shots are hand held.

I believe so and it's not much. Mostly it's because you get in other tourist's way with the tripod.

They have different types of tours set up. There were a lot of people there when I was visiting. So I can see how a tripod can cause problems.

Thanks! (I had to hurry though ES because we had the dog out in the car and didn't want to leave her out there too long.) I'm hoping to go back up there and spend some more time up there.

We had to hurry on our trip through, too. We went on vacation with friends, and they were adamant about touring Valley Forge on our way to Philly that day. Valley Forge was boring and we had very little time to see anything once we got to Philly. We toured ESP in about 1 hour. . .too fast to enjoy or really photograph (and I had my old camera then. . .).
We're hoping to get back this summer as a side trip from Gettysburg. I'll definitely spend more time and take more photos next time!

We passed up Valley Forge to spend the day at King of Prussia Mall. (Totally worth it!) That's funny, because we were also thinking about going to Gettsburg this summer for a day or two ourselves.

I'd love to go. Do you get harassed by authorities for going there? Most of the insane asylums and former prisons around here (Massachusetts) are heavily patrolled and you get arrested if you go near them.
