Beautiful gradiation of tone you've created here. The grain is fantastic and the lighting dramatic. Good stuff. Great stuff.

Gracias Odd thing about styles, you never notice your own at first, people tell you about it later.

true
this is a well thoughtout piece, the softness of the face makes you focus on the sharpness of the eye
great job

just wanted to say that I admire the shading, very well done, you seemed to have used very small strokes and it looks very smooth (apart from some little spots). the only part you could've put some more attention to is her hair, it has some lack of detail on the highlights, otherwise

darkartificer In reply to tap-ioca [2004-09-04 02:06:19 +0000 UTC]

The hair was done literally last, as you could see in the WIP's in the scrapbook area, and the hair itself wasn't as interesting as some that I've done. Since it was hastily done, I probably should have put in more details. The hair itself actually was missing a lot of highlights due to the lighting and the product in the hair. Otherwise thanks

Nice work...8B eh?! Brave person, I once tried a 9B at uni in the first year of my Fine Art course and what a mess it turned out...

I've been looking for a 9B but haven't had any luck. Might as well use charcoal for that kind of dark. And it all goes on working light then going dark, as you can see in the scrapbook WIP's for this project

Thanks, though some of the credit goes to the original photographer. The picture was pixellated to hell but they were responsible for the lighting. would be the one to point you to the one responsible for that.
