Description
Well, this is my character Asmodeus the vampire, in an upcoming Larping session (also known as Lajv here in sweden). We took some pictures for our own group know as the artifact collectors guild, and.. well.. there's not really much more to say
This is probably the latest picture I've had in 3 years where I'm actually in it. Cool huh?
Anyway, enjoy

just den bilden är tagen innan min återförening med lajv. År 2008 tror jag det var. Tror att det var Nattens Demon.

Then move to sweden, haven't heard of any decent larping sessions from anyother country. Well, maybe because I've only seen it on youtube but

Ah, I Saw you guys at "traitors in the mist". I want claws like that too, they look really bad-ass Is it ok for EH to fight with those things?

hahaha, well
Measure your fingers to the size of how big you want each of the claws. Draw one claw for each finger on a hard and thick piece of paper in 2d, you can either do three, four or five claws which will vary in size depending on which you decide to make. I made 5, one for each finger, which made it much easier to create.
Cut them out when your done and find any camping matresses available at home, remember, they must be soft and plastic, or else it won't be very easy to cut them out when your done .
Use your newly cut out claws as templates to draw them onto the matress, thus preventing any unnecassary mistakes. You need to do 2 cut-outs of the matress of the same claw, since it's based on to layers, one left and one right.
when you've done all this, that's where the tricky part starts. You need to use a lot of glue, and something hard that stucks which stays a bit stretchy and not stiff. If it gets to hard it won't be very comfortable for your hand I can assure you. The smartest thing now is to cut out room for the fingers in the two layers, but not straight through, only a bit so that it won't be as hard to put them on. I myself did the mistake of gluing every claw, then realizing I had to carve a whole for each and everyone since I forgot to cut out the holes in the process. Very stupid .
Glue on both sides, let it dry for a moment then put the two pieces together of each claw and push each side softly, wiping out any air bubbles or unwanted space between the two layers.
When they're all dry you're ready to cut out the edge. either draw a line or do it right away -> making an edge like on a knife you cut out a piece of each side from the root to the very tip of the claw forming a sort of "stretched out pyramid". This is for show, and without it, the claws won't really look like claws. You'll see what I'm talking about in my picture, they basically look like knives with sharp edges .
Does the claws fit? After this I did something specifically for my claws since I wanted it from the beginning, obviously . The knuckles are tiny claws made in the same way glued onto the very beginning of each claw thus making the fingers look a lot larger and longer.
They where particularly hard to make since they're very fragile with such a big hole carved into them .
They're not that necassary however, just for a bit more style.
Last thing is to find a fabric glove the will absorb the latex when you put it on. Preferably a glove you don't use too well. Glue the claws onto the glow (Firstly the knuckles if you have them), and trust me, it'll be very cold in the next hour/hours depending on the glue. When it's done you need bouyant fluid latex, which you'll paint onto the glove and the claws covering every part leaving no spot clean. You can paint one layer if you want colour as well, which is very preferable .
Blend some "hobby colour" which has a latex mix in it, and nothing else, or else the paint will crack and shatter. Metalic gray looks really good. Paint 4 or 5 layers more (this'll take some time since latex dryes very slowly)all around the talon and then with the last layer let it dry for a day or so. then it's all set, I covered my talon with dirty bandages since It looks better than showing it off without it .
Hope it wasn't too hard to get, luckily there's not much material you use, even if latex can be kind of hard to come by I guess, here we have a special "larping" store for those things.

when you say sleeping mat I take it to mean quarter inch thick foam sleeping mats. we use those for sword materials here. since we're a full contact larp group. and sadly we don't have your standerd larping stores. tho we should you know

Very nice. What materials/fabrics did you use for the coat?
Was there any specific patters that was based or modified from?

oh it's something called mollskinn here in sweden, don't really know what the translation is, but it's pretty soft to the touch but tenacious and it keeps you warm.
It was a very simple pattern actually, one that my friend made. It's basically a 2 pattern coat without arms. One for the left and one for the right, but it's really comfortable .

Cool, thanks. Yeah it looks like a nice coat. I thought it looked like it was a soft material. I'm still deciding on what material to use for the coat I'll be making. Mainly depends on what i find here. heh.

hehe, yeah, we have a very good store for that stuff, and they have a dicount for larpers so it's much cheaper for people like us
But you don't have to be a larper really, it's just for sales really, you get a lot out of it.

thanks It's not as good as most larpers in sweden, but it's always fun to play against other people for a couple of days. Battle isn't my thing though, not as fun as talking.
Oh that's easy! Takes a lot of explaining though, but it's not hard to come by all of the materials needed in the process. The building part is easy too. I could explain if you want, but I'm not very good at explaining though
