Kung Fu Panda - Lord Shen....Something tells me I need to create a KFP folder in my gallery.
So yeah...a practice sketch that somehow became a painting. I am not a painter. I honestly don't know what I was doing. But ya know what? ...It's fun! Plus, Shen needs some love. Especially since he was the only thing I actually liked about te second movie. (Besides me fangirling over Shifu still, but shhhhhh.)

Aw, really? I kind of loved the second movie like a lot. Though admittedly Shen was one of the top best things about it anyway.
But anyway, I am really liking this experimental painterly stuff you're doing, it looks really cool. Plus it totally fits in with the aesthetic of the movies. (If I may be so bold, can I ask if Mr. Ping is anywhere on your to-do list of KFP fanart? Just that he's my favorite.

Oh! As for the second movie...I LIKED it. But I had some issues with it. I personally didn't find it as heartfelt as the first movie. And I found it annoying and kinda OOC that Po went "YOU'RE NOT MY BLOOD FAMILY?! OH NO! AN ISSUE!" Yes, the situation was fixed and it was fluffy. But it annoyed me it was brought up. I think it's from a personal biased. I have both close friends that I see as family in my brain, and blood relatives I don't even see as family. So if I was in Po's shoes, I wouldn't have thought anything of it if my parent came out and told me "We technically aren't blood related.". I'd still go: "Oh yeah? But you're still my mother no matter what. <3"
That...and Poor Ping's feelings were hurt. Nooooo.

I can't really relate to Po's situation there, but I dunno, I just thought the fact that it was an issue was partially played for humor (like he wasn't smart enough to figure out on his own that a goose would not be biologically related to a panda), and also showed Po's innocence, since even that one change in his universe was enough to make him question his entire existence...it wasn't a revelation he'd been expecting, and it knocked him for a loop, which I find believable, even though, like I mentioned, the fact that he hadn't figured it out before then seemed mostly to be a humor touch. 
And, only bringing this up here because it's related to the topic...how in the world did I not know until I saw some comments in a KFP dump I just saw on the front page that there was a KFP TV show??

I reeeeally want the art book for Christmas. A friend and I flipped it open out of curiousity and there were some absolutely fantastic concepts in there, particularly of Shen. You'd never think a peacock could be frightening, but they pulled it off so well, and the fight sequences with him were beautiful.

I would love some of the KFP art books. It would really hep me to figure out howto translate these characters to a 2-D form better. Plus,I need more art books besides my BTAS one. XD

Well...He IS rather alarming. He had some serious crazy eyed expressions in the movie. mix that with the red glow he had a good chunk f the film...Brrr!
But he is a also a pretty bird too.

well, im not a fangirl so im not to sure about pretty, i think he looks pretty freaky actually, i just think hes a good villain, my sister is the shen fangirl of my house, she calls him beautiful and watches the movie over and over again just to freak out over shen, it's hard to describe in writing, its kind of scary sometimes lol. But yeah, he did go pretty insane during the scene where the tower fell down. it was like

This DID come out very nice. I especially like how you did his face (you did well to convey the 'old and wise' look), and the feathers on his head. He is one pretty... man-bird.
