Yay! So I sat down yesterday with a sharpie and started doodling scullies and such... and this is what I came up with. So yes, I used sharpies and twistables. I don't know if you all care what I use, just telling you! ;DWow. Well, I LOVE leroux Erik (although sometimes not as much as ALW'S Erik, but they're pretty close.)
The book gives his character a lot of depth, and I love the fact that he has such a great sense of humor despite his despairing madness etc. He truly is one of the greatest fictional characters of all time. Enjoy my conception of what he would look like ^_^
I love the little wisp of hair that he has. XD I dig.

LOL I have also seen another POTO, the 1990 one with Charles dance as the Phantom, have you seen that one, I love it so much, it is my second fav version.
1st: Gerard Butler- 2004

I have not yet read the original novel, is it good? I have started it though.
Although I love Gerard Butler as the phantom, I can't really believe it as to me he looks sooooooooo handsome, even when he is unmasked (LOL I would choose ALW's Erik anytime)
I watched the silent movie version of the Phantom of the Opera with Lon Chaney as Erik and I though that was more believable with his whole face deformity.
I never thought in my life that I would watch a silent movie but I did and I'm so glad I watched it, it's brilliant. If you are a huge phantom of the opera fan and you have not yet seen it I would recomend it :-D

it certainly is, the book is a lot like the silent film. Yep I saw it a few years ago and own it... love it! except for the ending, that was a bit of a disappointment.

Yeah, the ending was very upsetting, I just sat there in shock at the end, not really knowing what to think LOL.

*twitch twitch...* must resist smoothing down Erik's hair for wedding photos... Meh, I have issues. Sometimes I wonder if I am slightly compulsive... But he is CUTE as a button! I think my issue is that my Erik plush always gets his head covered in mysterious dark lint, and I have to comb it off.

Thanks! I like it too. I thought of it when I was thinking about what kinds of stuff Erik used and I thought, "If Erik ran out of punjabs, where could he get more?" and then the username was born... Sorry, I'm rambling. It's the only funny idea I've for Phantom and I tend to obsess... Anyway, cute style!

I agree! his childish quality is what gets me. Not to mention his absolute ugliness (unlike Gerik). ok, i still LOVE Gerik but Leroux Erik is just so darn pitiful. XD gotta love him

He definitely is pitiful. Especially in the last chapter, when he's talking to the Persian... *sobs* I really can't get through it without bawling.

Kay's phantom was very close to Leroux's phantom, although I couldn't get over the fact that he took drugs and almost got raped... all those details made me want to puke. but in the end it had some very good parts. ;D i cried when he was talking to the gypsy girl and told her that he WAS like everybody else... ;.;

OMG! I love Kay's Phantom. Yeah, the drugs were awful, but the worst part was his selling his soul to the devil at the end. What? That was pitiful. And Raoul is even wimpier than usual. But the first section with his mom made me cry. I love the whole bit in Persia, and the gypsy carnival, and with Giovanni, and... oh, just everything!
I need to read it again. It's just terribly, terribly sad.
