Description My latest knife painting, based on a sketch made on site, whilst on holiday in Northumberland, England.

12x8 inches, Cryla acrylics on canvas board. All painted with painting knives.

when i look at this from a bit of a distance i can see the depth and that it is a landscape. when i look at it up close it looks a number of layers--much more 2d. (although in a knife painting it's sort of inherent that's it's literally 3d!). the layers look like the strata one can see in cliffs or at archaeological dig.

totally off topic, but i'm curious why you gave the dimensions of the painting in inches but you are british.

Well, most British people still seem to give dimensions in inches. It is pretty annoying, since as I am in my thirties, I learned everything in metric at school, but whenever I quote things in centimeters, I keep on getting questions of "what's that in inches". I think that Britain is only partially metric! Distances in particular (miles, feet, inches).
