Description "Tulips" painted from my imagination. Acrylic painting done with painting knives. Cryla acrylic paint, 8x8 inches on stretched canvas.

"Pyrrole Red" is simply the colour of paint used for the tulips. Photo lit with strong sunlight, to bring out the texture. The sky is supposed to be a bit Van Gogh.

The painting only took 30 minutes, but I am hoping to do some more like this as I develop my style. Please do let me know what you think!

Thanks! Acrylics is my favourite medium, but I like oil pastels, as they are easier to get out and do a short bit of painting. With both mediums I am trying to develop a painterly/expressive style and I love the powerful colours and textures you can get with each. I like painting knives because of the texture you can get, and they remove the temptation to "fiddle" too much on the details.

yeah good point... Are those painting knives expensive ?

No, not expensive - maybe about £3 each, for a metal bladed one (better than the plastic ones). You only really need a couple - maybe one large and one small.

Here's some examples at a good price: [link]
