Thanks for asking - this is a very personal painting. We were away on holiday and my wife had a horrible illness. It was one of the worst nights of my life, but in the midst of the crisis we had help from the most wonderful people on site and from the medical professionals. A year later I had the thought that it wasn't really such a dark night, but that God had many angels watching over us even as the ambulance comes to take her to hospital. This painting is about what I saw looking back to that night a year ago. At the time I made a very quick sketch with felt pens, and then 3 years later I painted it in oil pastels, after I had developed a way to paint angels.

I'm glad to say that my wife is doing much better now, and I am very grateful to God for watching over us at the darkest time.
