This is lovely. In fact, your whole gallery is beautiful. It's my kind of art. I'm a big fan of Impressionism and Post Impressionism. You capture both styles really well. Nice work.

It reminds me of fairytales... Great job!
Or, uhmm, do you know the book Mathilda by Roald Dahl? You have a great scene where Mathilda and her very nice teacher, Miss Honey, are walking towards Miss Honey's house. Miss Honey tells a story about the house, or something else, I don't really remember. Anyway, the way the house is described was always very fairytale-y to me.
And that was what this painting reminded me of.
Anyway, uhmm, great job! I don't know much about art like this, but it looks very lovely and you captured the sun really well.

Thanks for the comments and story - yes, maybe it is a fairytale cottage...
I've no idea what Van Gogh though of when he first painted it, but there is something special there that speaks to me also.

Thanks Aaron! Oil pastels are great for Van Gogh's. I think Vincent would have loved OPs (and acrylics)! I don't think oils suited him very well - just think how many paintings he could have speed-painted with a fast drying medium!

Van Gogh is definitely my No 1 favourite artist - not too sure about his state of mind, but I tend to make my own, more positive interpretations of his work. I thinking about re-doing "Wheatfield with crows" as "Wheatfield with doves" or something like that...
I also love the impressionists (Renoir, Monet, Manet etc)
My other main inspiration is my 7 year old son - he has always been passionate about painting and art, regardless of whether it is any good at all. It was him who inspired me to start in the first place...

Yeah Same here when I was a child I
always had this strong sense of passion towards art or paintings that guided
me as a child funny though I never thought of perfection though every thing I did looked perfect to me.
I realized that I was talented or at least that what my teachers called it they advised me and my mother into taking art classes after school witch
I did and it just stuck with me though out the years.
you know the great thing about Art is
it does not hafe to look perfect or rely detailed to be beautiful''
