Description
This is an illustration I did recently for an album cover. The band decided not to use it in the end (at least I don't think they used it). I don't do much in the way of commissions (largely because people don't ask) but sometimes working to a brief can yield interesting results that you wouldn't otherwise have achieved.Related content

Postscript to prior: this is done with sciencefiction(and other genre.)bookcovers, internal illustrations and others . there is usual atime frame (even if unspecified by agreement.check you copy right law for time frame . even with a major cloient/publsher you stil own the rights and overall copyright. tyhey paid and contract to useit they own its use /licensefor time period only .even if they own the original piece.its just harder to gain access to the original if dont have it but you of course can work from copies .if they own the piece they are entitled to keep it of course ,but after th eset period of tme has elapsed they have to pay you again(or at least get you to agree to allow its use) as the artist under US (and im fairly sure under international )copy right lawe while they own the piece as property , but the artist retains the rights to use and ownership of intelectuall property. the inelectual property law differs a bit between art and that governing software. most of it in favor of the artist.

you own the intellectual property and copyright. If they didnt use it,nothing says (unless there was a time frame clause in your agreement /contract for a specified time prohibiting it .) you cant resell/relicense it for reuse. also you be able to make prints(limited/signed or otherwise).

wow!!! this is so amazing.... It shows the hardwork and detail put into it.. Did you use pencil and then "digitize" it? I love this style... it definitely has it's own personal touch.. can't wait to see more!!!

Hey! I'm actually in the band Learn To Swim that you did this for. We all absolutely love this piece but want something that doesn't go off our name as much. I know all you had was our name at the time of creation. We would love to and plan to use this for flyers, banners and other promotions. Album art is going to be a different idea. I'm pretty sure our singer Dave has been talking to you about our album and getting label support. I'm not sure if you've been told the album name , "Creature Comfort", or any other tid bits of information.
You are the best choice for album art for this band. I'm very happy to be working with you.

Cheers Brian - At the time I posted this I hadn't heard back from you guys, but I've been in contact with Dave about the album cover since then, and hopefully I'll be producing something in the next few weeks!

What a marvelous creation....
The head gear, the crack in the ball, such tones... simply amazing. Great work. Too bad they didn't use it for their album cover - it is marvelous.
btw: Happy New Year

Happy New Year, and may your wonderful work keep coming. Lovely piece.
A shame it was not used. All too often good work gets left, as folks won't pay or want something for nothing. Don't give up

Well done, this must have been a lot of work, which makes it even more of a pity they didn't use it. I hope they're not ripping you off.

The way I see it I got a new picture out of it whether it gets used or not, so it's not so bad.
