Yeah it can be, that's why i use it mostly for starting a painting. It's best for giving you ideas for composition etc.

No cheat, its like many cool artists work ^^ All there is to do is to work it out properly. Like the quite successful Lorenz Scheurer said, most of the old masters used tools for perspective etc, why not using new and better tools ?? Its not the tool, its the artist who makes great pieces from it. And you do that

Well, i understand the title after reading the tut (which was good btw). You didn't actually teach how to build a custom brush (cuz i've built one before - grunge), moreso you used a custom brush (without describing how to make that specific brush) and used it to paint a building. It was just some confusion on my part.
