ive always been really fond of bulbasaur in gen 1 tbh, especially since he's super effective/ resistant to a majority of the gym leaders/ elite four member's >:y

Yeah he's practically easy mode for the duration of the first 3 gyms, given how he can single-handedly wipe the floor with Brock and Misty, and how he's resistant to Lt. Surge (which is ridiculous but not unintentional).
I love how the developers implemented a subtle "easy, normal, hard" difficulty spike for the first third of the game depending on who you pick as a starter. Charmander is obviously hard mode, as he's weak to the first 2 gyms right off the bat and can only deal normal damage to the third electric-type gym, while Squirtle's the most balanced early-game of the two, as he can wipe out Brock no prob and deal normal damage to Misty. He's weak to Lt. Surge, the third gym, but his performance early on gives you the chance to chill for the first two gyms while you go around adding more pokemon to your team in preparation for Surge. Squirtle's not too OP but not too weak either, he's just right~

Also the 100% critical hit chance on razor leaf in red and blue was a plus :y
But yeah bulbasaur definately is the easy setting in kanto at least lol, tbh I've just always been fond of the grass starters idk

yeah gen 1 was so broken technically and strategically, but its till really charming in weird way (despite it not being my first generation lol) you cant help but love it :y

MissingNo can still be triggered and caught in the Virtual Console releases, though I'm pretty sure he'll just be considered as a non-transferable Pokemon, much like the Cosplay Pikachu from ORAS, or Groudon Kyogre and Rayquaza when they know their ORAS-esclusive moves. Best case scenario he'll be converted into a Kangaskhan or something in the process of moving to the Bank.
