Description TCC = Tetsuko Cosplay Calendar

So I'm finishing up "Tara Attacks" [link] and it occurs to me that there will be more than a couple of requests to see Amzot's first lady drawn with more muscularity - which would make sense, as at least a couple of the comments I've gotten on "Tara Attacks" point out: she's a human on a world of monsters who's always fighting off invaders, she'd have to be in excellent physical shape.

Then I realize it's time to start work on the June TCC, and it reminded me of something Jack Burton always says: Jack Burton says "what the hell!" So... Tetsuko as Tara. It's a natural!

(The hard part of this pic was making the papier-mache models of Gloop and Tundro )

Man, that's an idea! Looking at J2001, it would be awesome to see Tetsuko dressed as Shampoo from Ranma 1/2.

All right! I guess Zandor won't have to worry about Tara needing protection anymore.

"I vaguely remember the Pirates of Dark Water series. It was unusual because of the fact the team of good guys were all elves. You had the hot-tempered platinum blonde prince, a fugitive trying to reclaim his throne. A dark-haired, cynical pirate that owned the ship the team voyaged on. And a young, dark-haired and feisty female elf who later found she was a 'water-mancer', i.e., she was able to use magics to make water obey her wishes. The artwork and animation was pretty good, but the story line was so confusing, I couldn't really follow the plot, Anyone else have info on this show?"

The only thing I remember about Pirates of Dark Water is that the female elf you mentioned was voiced by Jodie Benson, the voice of Disney's Little Mermaid. I never got to watch the show very often.

"Well, like I said, the plot of the blasted thing was so convoluted, I finally gave up watching it out of frustration. I was surprised the character's name was even remembered by anyone."

"A splendid rendition of Tara, my good sir! Enough muscle definition to portray the character as a strong, athletic warrior without overdoing the concept. I do have one point to make, however. Aren't the legs on Tundro a little short? I mean, as I recall the original and the '80s follow-up, the big guy could really haul tail when he charged. With those teeny legs, it looks like he can barely hold up his massive weight. A minor point, however; the rest of the portrait is excellent."

They seem the right length as I remember them.

"OK, maybe I'm looking at an angle that makes them seem shorter than they are. But I really believe the legs should be longer. An Earth rhino has a massive body, but some proportionately long and powerful legs to move that massive body at speeds up to 35 mph. It seems logical that Tundro, even with twice the number of legs, should have the same sort of proportions. And in that picture, he doesn't seem to have that."

I can't find any reference to a character named Tula in Thundarr the Barbarian. Which episode was she in?

I'm surprised you didn't suggest the sorceress Princess Ariel (who was one of the three main characters).

Tula was the name of the chick from "The Pirates of Dark Water" (or simply "Dark Water" in its initial five-episode run). If I had to guess, I'd say you're thinking of that one.

Perhaps Tetsuko will dress up as her sometime, with Niddler close behind bearing an "oh crap I hope I don't have to carry that around" look.

I believe Mr. Burton once said "I have paid my dues and the check is in the mail". An awesome rendition of Tet-Chan as Tara as well as the Herculoid members Gloop and Tundro. You definitely kicked major ass on this.
