Description
Do you ever get the urge to just draw Spiderman? I do and if I don't get him out of my system I get artist's block! Lol. I drew this picture at work on Friday when I had a spare class (approx. 45 minutes). I managed this pencil and ink in that time. So tonight I just plonked some colours on in Photoshop to post.Related content

Hahaha doing a spiderman piece at the moment myself, so I know the feeling.

If you ever draw him again, can you go for your more realistic style? I'd be fascinated to see what you can do with him in that style!

We'll see how I go - it would take considerable more concentration.

Could be why I'm taking 8 weeks off next year - time to write the novel I've always wanted to write... in 8 weeks lol.

I wrote 60,000 words in 30 days. It's not a novel, but it's a short book with 13 chapters. If you draft it out and plan it ahead of time, it is an attainable goal.

I haven't done any creative work for a looong time. I actually studied writing at Uni but then went into teaching. Time to flex my literature muscles.

I hadn't written in fifteen years when I wrote those 60,000 words in 30 days and I've never studied writing at all. I do it for fun. I've been told my punctuation leaves much to be desired. One of my stories is up for an award, though. I seem to have a natural talent for characterization and exploring the human psyche. I'm also very funny... if you like twisted humor, anyway. I don't curse at all in my work and I don't write anything past kissing, but my sense of humor is warped.

That's why we get on so well on here. Like minds and all.
That's awesome about the award - I wish you all the best on it.
I always had the dream of writing for a living combined with filmmaking. I have worked on films now, so it's time to try the writing schtick. I even bought myself an airMac to tout about to jot down prose. I've always been more creative than practical which kind of makes this eternal struggle as unfortunately there isn't a lot of places in this world where you get to be ultimately creative.
The best time I've had recently was working on the Hobbit in 2009. If I could land a full time gig sculpting monsters - that would be a dream come true.
I think the 8 weeks off teaching will let me explore my creativity more than I've been able to in a long time. I just have to slay the procrastination demon lurking within me. I think I'll pump a few more Ben 10 paintings out over Christmas to get that out of my system too

I would hate to use any of my talents to make a living. Somehow that's always felt like it would defile them somehow. I had both an art and an academic scholarship when I was sixteen. I chose to marry the love of my life instead. I've never regretted the decision. So many people who study and work in their chosen fields never find their soulmates. I found mine at fourteen. I wasn't going to let him go.
It's great that you worked of The Hobbit! You are so cool!

Lol. I'm so cool Brewster.
I don't know, working at something you like is always a bonus in my opinion.
I've sacrificed a lot for my wife and family but I do it because I love them and without regret.
Are you telling me you got married at 16? Is this a Jerry Springer/Dr Phil episode? I'm just kidding, as long as you and the hubby are happy.

I got married at 18. And, yes, my childhood would likely make for a fascinating Jerry Springer/Dr Phil episode. I actually met my husband when I was six. It's a fairy-tale love story with a whole lot of drama. If I wrote it into a book, it'd sell.
