Amazing detail, and those wings are so thin! How did you make them and get them to hold without them falling apart or bending?

Thank you! Using a rolling pin, I rolled a thin sheet of ProMat, attached it to the fingers and began the very delicate job of texturing the surfaces. There was no secret technique: the key ingredients were patience and concentration. Oh, and one other thing - you don't want to be drinking coffee while doing this!

Oh nice. Are the wings fragile then? Or is promat quite a strong clay?
hah, I don't drink coffee. Tea on the other hand...

Fairly fragile, but, then again, I wouldn't care to put that to the test. Nonetheless, ProMat was an extremely strong clay, in fact, superior to its replacement product, Premo.
And as long as it's green tea you should do just fine!

Awesome. I have a 2 of those dragons most likely. As they are Michael Whelan, and were released by the Franklin Mint. Love them.

Absolutely beautiful...what was this sculpted with and how large is it? How long do you think this piece took to complete, fully textured and all? It's amazing! Faving!

Thank you for the compliment! It was sculpted in ProMat polymer modeling clay, it is approximately 7 inches tall and it took me 3 weeks to sculpt.
