You know? One of the biggest dilemmas on the Internet is the term Mary-Sue or Gary-Stu. And thanks to Star Wars, the internet has got itself up into a frenzy over the suggestion that Rey, one of the protagonists of Star Wars, is a "Mary Sue". This intrigues me, as a member of the Star Wars community, because Rey, the heroine of Star Wars, has been frequently described as the terrible character because she is a "Mary-Sue", and yet no one gives an actual definition of the term Mary-Sue.

So according to the homework I did about the subject, the term a Mary-Sue is a character that: Can do everything. Is love by everyone, and Has no flaws. So for the fandom, a Mary-Sue is a term uses for any fictional character who is so competent and perfect that this appears absurd, even in the context of the fictional setting. They may excel at tasks that shouldn't be possible, or they may disregard previously established aspects of the fiction such as characterization and natural laws, but I do not see that on Rey, but I do see all that on Darth Vader.

And yes! I will share with you the reason why Darth Vader the most overrated character in Star Wars is a Gary-Stu.

So!? Why do I think Darth Vader is a Gary-Stu? Well! He has done some crazy stuff! Without restriction! Seriously, he has done crazy stuff in both canon and non-canon. Like in the comic, he uses the Force to stop an AT-AT from crushing him on Cymoon 1 despite an AT-AT is a fucking huge thing and he is the size of an Ant.

In Star Wars Rebels in his duel with Kanan Jarrus and Ezra Bridger, his very presence made them tremble. He also easily almost killed Ezra by telekinetically pinning him to a wall and almost forcing him to cut his throat with his own lightsaber.

Once again in Star Wars Rebels, Darth Vader easily almost destroyed a Phoenix Squadron in alone Tie fighter, easily out-flying their entire fleet and forcing their command to abandon ship a feat would be impossible if an entire army has a hard time bringing a warship down. In the canon comic, Darth Vader wipes out an entire army of Rebels by himself, and in Rogue One, Darth Vader took down with ease a squad of Rebels by himself.

Even at a young age, Anakin would become Darth Vader demonstrated a great aptitude for piloting, mechanics, and engineering. He rebuilt the protocol droid C-3PO, an advanced droid fluent in over six million forms of communication, as well as a functional pod-racer, and he also showed to be an exceptional pilot! And yet! He was never trained to do that. Let's not also forget that everyone fears him during the Old Era of Star Wars where the were a lot of prophecies about him.

And then we have that no one, and I mean no one can beat him on a fair fight! They all have to cheat in order to stand against him, ever an Ancient Jedi has to use a Sith Amulet to beat him. So there is a lot of evidence proving that Darth Vader is a Gary-Stu, there is no denial about it, but knowing how the fandom work, I pretty sure they will denial all that and make poor excuses.

Excuses Like:

  He is an Ace Pilot!

  He is the Chosen One!

  He has years of training!

These excuses do not hold weight because:

1. Training doesn't justify for someone to be unbeatable! Sure training makes perfection, but it doesn't make someone unbeatable, and like I explain! No one seems to beat Darth Vader in a fair fight, and then we have the fact when he was a kid, he was a good pilot and good at building stuff without training.

2. Be an Ace Pilot doesn't justify why he can't outfly pretty much everyone! One can be a good pilot, but still, need the help of others, so there are not excuses to justify Darth Vader outflying everyone, especially when he went solo.

3. The excuse for him to be the Chosen One doesn't excuse his insane skills! And the word Chosen One is just a term to hide someone Mary-Sue skills since she or he can do things that others can not.

So there are no excuses to make Darth Vader be the exception of the Gary-Stu rank. If Darth Vader can be a Gary-Stu then other characters like Rey are justified to be Mary-Sue or Gary-Stu. If they can't be Mary-Sue, then Darth Vader shouldn't be overpowered either, yet! People are not complaining about him, so it pretty much just showed that the Star Wars community is a group of misogynistic imbeciles that hate women, and their actions do prove my point.
