Description
It took a long time to go from the contest entry to a somewhat decent image. This was originally for the dropzero challenge by photomanipulation.official. 23 of the 25 assets are from their starter pack, which was the imposed resource.

The main idea I had in mind was to break down the assets into small unrecognizable parts for two character designs. But on the original, the sense of scale was off, and colors did not seem to work despite trying multiple different adjustments. I lost a lot of time and layers (635) to fix the lack of initial structure. If I would have to do it again, I would:

- set the perspective more accurately
- go more often back and forth from digital to paper to match the chara-designs with the constraints from the assets
- take more inspiration for composition from the internet for very common scenes such as this one

In another context, I would have been proud of this, but photo-bashing has to be much more clever in composition and stylistic choices now that anyone could generate more interesting visuals with a prompt. Plus with Photoshop including generative tools, the frontier between people who build images by trying to get how perspective, lightning, and photography work and people prompting will soon disappear. That's also why I practice much more AI-proof techniques such as pencil drawing and watercolor.
