I know this isn't part of the tutorial, but how do you color in the lines? Β I tried selection tool but it turns out squiggly with white edges :/

i usually save it as a png, with no background and then open it in photoshop or just bring the line art layer to the top, and color underneath.Β

Thank you SO much for this tutorial! I've been attempting to learn how to improve my art on ArtRage, and this will be a huge help! One question: I'm not used to doing 9x width for the hard pencil, so what do you recommend the tracing image's size should be? I can always manually scale, so I was wondering what you normally recommend. Sometimes the image can be too small for a 9x width to trace properly, so I was curious how big the images you lineart tend to be.
also I realize I'm asking this eight billion years after you posted this soooo sorry I'm a little late >u>;;

sorry it took a while to reply, depending on your resolution or the size of the image you're wanting to do, just make the size of the pencil you want it to do, generally i just look for a medium small size, and use that , when i get more into detail Β i'll some times use smaller sizes to kind of imitate scratches or folds or just random detail lines Β to avoid blank space.
related to size, i'd do something on a larger scale, and then size down when done, it tends to help with imperfections on detail and also helps into anti-alias stuff. to really be truthful just do what you want to do. Β sadly lately i have been putting things off b/c of work or other hobbies taking up time so again sorry for the late reply. Β
