I'm told that DiCaprio will play a Francophile slave owner, I was wondering if it's a Les Miserables reference because in the Victor Hugo novel, a character referred to as 'the sergeant of Waterloo' went to America to become a slave trader at the end.

Our esteemed director Tarantino has a penchant for smooth villains. I mean Christopher Waltz(he would appear in the movie as well) won an award for being a smooth-talking Nazi baddie.
Somebody should do a crossover ala Inglorious Basterds.
