Description
A companion piece to 's post-Mass Effect trauma, which you can find here championsandheroes.smackjeeves… with the rest of the Champions and Heroes comic and on tumblr championsandheroes.tumblr.com/Sometimes I react very strongly to things in games, novels, etc. Certain feelings get deeply connected to certain things. To the point where I was genuinely had knots in my stomach when the Mako reappeared in ME2. And was unbelievably relieved when it was made away with in a cutscene and I didn't have to drive it. But then, I can't drive it at all and spent ages trying to make it up mountains and falling bouncing down. It's natural that it would be connected with a lot of bad feelings and frustration.
I did NOT expect the same feelings to ambush me at the sight of the fishtank in ME3. The constantly dying fishes apparently had a bigger impact on me than I thought XD
In a similar vein, I replayed the Luna mission in ME1 and spent the entire time horribly conflicted. The final message got me teary eyed and going all "right in the feels TTATT"
On a side note: the world needs more Zaeed fanart and fanfic. And you can never have enough Jack. But seriously. More Zaeed.
All hail Bioware (who also needs to give us more Zaeed)

This. This is exactly my feelings about the Mako. Slapstick in wheels that causes PTSD in the other squad members!
I also imagined poor Tali swearing at me and telling me the horrible revenge she would have if barfed in her suit.

It was fun driving the Mako. Until I had to get to the top of a mountain and it started bouncing around, getting stuck, turning sideways and falling into holes. Why do I miss it?

I guess I just miss the game rather than the mako. I think I'm going to replay it again.

I love driving the Mako. I miss it so much. My mom would get so sick watching me jump off of Mountains

I'm always surprised by how much hate the Mako gets. It is one of my favourite vehicles in video games. Strangely enough the controls came to me naturally and I never had any trouble going into the direction I wanted. In my second playthrough I drove circles around Thresher Maws and used the hoverjets to "jump-tackle" armatures. The part of the vehicle I had the most trouble with were actually the turret controls.
So yeah, fun times.

The Mako gets as much hate as it deserves. It is a terrible vehicle and should apologize to everyone who has been forced to drive it anywhere. And not return in the next game. I will weep.
But considering how well I handled ME3 I'll be crying regardless so I guess...

Well, I really loved it. But each to their own I guess. But the Mako in ME Andromeda will be very different anyway.

I'm sure it's fun when it's on purpose, I just kept accidentally doing it when I was almost up and getting stuck in places because of it XD

Mako traumatised me, one time. I dont know if it's the same for everyone, but when I roll on geths, I start spinning like crazy and I die horribly falling in lava. I guess it is a glitch.

Or maybe the mako has geth sympathies?

The geth was kind of stuck in the mako... that was just like they were dancing tango together and then, ploof! in the lava. Then I ate my remote. (even Xbox mako can be tricky XD)

I will never understand people who love the Mako. You are a strange alien race to me. Which I suppose is fitting with the setting.

But I found a way to drift the Mako! Surely that is badass and cool right?
Bt I guess you do have a point. I love driving. I have driven many cars, bikes, trucks, even busses. I've driven motorboats, two yachts and a train! A Skoda electric train! How cool is that?

I liked the Mako. Just got done playing through the first Mass Effect, and I loved landing on planets, driving the Mako around, up cliffs, and generally causing pure havoc among my enemies... That said, I can't drive, and ended up going over so many cliffs it just wasn't funny. In the end, part of me was happy to see the Mako crash after going across the galaxy thanks to the Conduit, but part of me missed it, and the ability to dry hump Geth Armatures. Never used the Hammerhead though. Kind of glad. I like my tanks to be mobile, but more than that, I like them not to be made out of cardboardium.

Haha, oh I can understand that. I prefer being able to control the vehicle in truth, though it wouldn't have hurt to be able to take a few hits :I No, best version was clearly ME3: Cortez drives for you. Hallelujah!

But then Bioware answers the problems of the fish tank by giving us an upgrade Shepard can buy that will do all the fish feeding for him/her. I actually passed over buying back my Blood Dragon armour for it.

And thank the stars for that! I didn't dare to buy fish again until I discovered it. And then I gleefully wasted important galaxy-saving funds on it. Like a responsible hero.

I'd imagine more Garrus or Tali begging to not get in the Mako. I mean, Shepard drives the damn thing in ME1. I'd be the one putting my friends through more trauma in the Mako because I can.

The first thing I bought in ME3 was the automatic food dispenser...Not a weapon, not much needed upgrades, a bloody expensive VI for my goddamn fishes.
Bloody trauma makers, I tell you.

Haha, awesome I laughed so hard
I have always been shocked just upon seeing the Mako. And I still remember that everytime I could 'land' on a planet in ME1, part of me didn't want to click this button because it always meant that I'd have to drive the Mako again...didn't get along with the Hammerhead too well in ME2, but everything's better than the Mako
But I have to admit that my fish never died even once in ME2....still bought the automatic fish-feeding-thing in ME3
