Description
Unsurprisingly theres still more from my old work that I haven't uploaded yet, much of this is work from my Uni years (can't believe I'm calling it that after only 3 months since leaving ), mostly from the first two, seeing as I haven't started on the 3rd years work yet!! The following are a series of photos compiled over the castle beach shoots of the local Kestrel (Falco tinnunculus) who used to fly over from his roost a few headlands round in search of prey on the local beaches.
The castle beach project, as I have said before, was: "Part of a series of images taken at the location as a study of the local habitat, the aim of the shoots was to produce a portfolio of photos showing the wide range of biodiversity of the habitat through focusing on the bird life present." The rest of the shoot can be found through the relevant gallery link here: Castle Beach Project: Habitat Study
This image was part of a series aimed at showing the adaptations and behaviour of the species within the habitat through movement (other examples of these attempts can be seen through the look into the species camouflage within their environment, shown nicely through the previous Kestrel image in the folder), one of the core aims of the series, the hope was to capture a series of stills and moving images work to use to iterate the idea, showing the viewer the differences between each species and their unique aspects, this however fell through as far as images like this went, not being able to capture enough in the space of time I had to compile an entire series for finals by the end of the project (although as with all the projects I undertake, I always aim to do far more than I should ). This image was by far the best of the captures, and one I'm really proud of, once again using the beast, managing to capture the entirety of the Kestrels hunting flight pattern, from constant checking for danger, through to the hover and scout for prey, right through to the dive itself! Hopefully this better shows the Kestrel's unique hunting behaviour, far more completely than a single still could ^^.
Hope you like him, and leave a comment, tell me of some of the wildlife you've seen, or what you think of the image, and if you like the shot check out some of my other work through the folder link above or through my gallery!
Thanks for watching
