Description I did this one a while back and decided to attempt it once again. For me, the results are fairly better, however, the computer pulls the colour contrast a little too far.

The contrast seems fine to me, but that's just me. Nice focal point, it really makes the piece pop out. The lamp has good proportionality and perspective as well--good job on that. Keep it up!

The texture in this, created by the crosshatching, is super! The piece seems so dynamic, it's almost as if it could move, even though it shows inanimate objects.

Overall, the sketch is well done. The crosshatches do a great job in making the shadows and depth, which seem to flow well. The way they are done provides a nice mood which I cannot really describe given the concept. The concept itself is looks pretty original. The lamp and the lighting are probably the best looking of all.

that looks sweet, very mysterious, I like how you left the eye mostly white with the pupil and retna barely visible, but the shading around the eye is my favorite part making the white stand out and making it look very 3d

this is a very interesting piece. very impressive line work and use of shadows. very scratchy but im into that. and the picture of the eye is almost 3d-ish. very cool to get something to actually look like its popping off the page like that

Very nice shading and a great eye-potriat in the middle. Great and true shapes.

awesome! i LUUUUV ur crosshatching! there's a simplicity to this peice that's very appealing, but the interesting subject matter (really looks like u have an eye there!) and the great composition makes it so very interesting. ur values are very well done and i am just in love with that EYE! definitely a fave!

Exceptional cross-hatching skills. I swear the longer I look at the eye the more I feel like I can touch it.

Nice. I love how it's a sculpture, within a picture within a still life. I really like the texture the cross-hatching creates.

It looks great, and the fact that most people have instantly picked up that it's David's eye is a credit to your execution of it. If the lamp is on there would need to be more light on the ground and wall planes...for some reason it looks unnatural and a little rushed The eye itself and the shadow behind it on the cloth look fantastic tho.

Haha poor david had his eye chopped off... Shading is excellent and above, the lamplight is directed realistically and well. Wonderful.

I think the lighting from the lamp looks very realistic for a drawing like this one.
The shading is top-notch too. Well done, dude.

Excellent work. You really nailed the David eye ^^. I usually have a hard time with the eyebrow for some reason. The shading in this is really something too, it makes it looks very 3-D.

You really know your stuff when it comes to shading, and the crosshatching and texture make it seem more real. Awesome job!
BTW, it would be a good idea to reduce the image size in a photo editing program so the fullview isn't so big.
