It's so fun to see how other people color! I do it like this: Base colors + markings on one layer and then on top of it the shadings on multiply. It's really easy to correct mistakes like that.

Find that useful but there is a way more simple ^^

I always make a greyscale or something,then I design markings etc and I just press ''Overlay'' in the layer and they come under the greyscale or the shaded drawing C:

I did this tutorial like this just cause a lot of people don't do grey scales But I totally see where you are coming from !
