Description
A reference sheet for my Heroine OC: The Spark Maiden!-------
Civilian name: Marie Flamendard
Alias: The Spark Maiden
Age: 20
Hair: orange
Eyes: purple
Size: 1m 69 = 1'6.5
Ability: High endurance and sharpen reflexes that show natural predisposition for combat, even though not trained.
Power: A fire bracelet (details below).
Marie is a very sweet and educated girl but she's rather reserved.
She's the Flamendard's only child, although she never had the chance to spend many time with her parents: her mother died in a car accident when she was 10, and her father is a world traveling diplomat, that's why she's a rather wealthy living girl.
As she grew up, she noticed her reflexes and endurance being quite more developed than the other kids. That's why, one day, she made researches about her ancestors, to discover that she's the descendant of a prestigious lineage of noble fighters and heroes, even though most of the telling are only rumors and almost forgotten stories.
Curious, one day, she sneaked in her father's old baubles. In an old chest, under a pile of old paper and ancient books, she found this ancient but shiny piece of jewelery: the fire bracelet.
She had quite a surprise when she put the bracelet around her wrist and saw a great flame instantly pop out (and almost set fire to her family's house).
Days past by as she learned to master the fire artifact and realized that it only responds to her will and only hers.
Months later, she leaved her family's house and went studying biology. She moved in an apartment with a law student, Amber Grade, with whom she got along very well. Although she never could forget her hidden powers provided by her family's bracelet.
That's why, one day, Amber having an obvious geek side, Marie asked her to design her an heroine costume based on her bracelet "for a themed costumed party".
Amber obviously thought it was a joke, so teased her friend and made her a quite revealing outfit.
"Heroines these days show all of their assets to take immediate advantage upon their foes. Besides it's a new identity: you need to 'wear' a more self-confident personality for a change", Amber answered to Marie's protests.
Somehow, with her new heroine dream in mind, this new identity, indeed, progressively took over Marie's reserve, as more she tried her new outfit on and on, more she gained assurance and thirst for justice.
Until one night, finally: the Spark Maiden was ready to kick some bad guys ass.
-------- Detail about the fire bracelet -------
The fire bracelet only responds to Marie/Spark Maiden. With a bit of concentration and focus, she can control its state and shape. The main use of the bracelet is as a fire sword, but it has other functions.
Her are the details abouts some the bracelets feature that are shown on the image:
#1 - Fire sword mode (1): the fire sword is a powerful weapon. Its power and shape are controlled by the Spark Maiden, however, when Mary gets angry and get out of control, so does her fire sword, so you better avoid her when she's angry. But don't worry, Marie is a very calm girl, it takes a lot to piss her off.
#2 - Fire sword mode (2): the 'blade' of the fire sword concentrates a lot of energy. The fire sword can literally cut through anything, you'll need another energy weapon or a weapon made of conducting material if you want to bloc it.
#3 - Fire Shield: Spark Maiden's defensive mode. Her fire blade turns into a fire shield, blocking and neutralizing any frontal attack on the Spark Maiden. Just as the fire sword, Marie can control the amount of energy she puts into her defense and the size of her shield. However, the bigger the shield is, the more difficult it gets to hold it up.
#4 - The blazing drill: One of the Spark Maidens most powerful attack. This attacks take a bit of a time to load, but once it's ready, the amount of energy put in that attack combined, to the spinning force of the fire drill, results in an outstanding offensive move, that pierce through any defense, even the most powerful energy fields.
#5 - The Fire Spiter: Spark Maiden can also use her fire bracelet for distant attacks. She can shoot several burst of fire balls. You won't get away that easy, Marie is also quite a good aim.
#6 - Falcon Fire Punch: Marie can use her bracelet to increase her hit damages. Trust me, you better avoid this attack...
#7 - The Sparkling Lasso: the only passive mode of Marie's bracelet. It doesn't make any damage, but this long and flexible feature can be used to catch back elusive criminals. You didn't really thought you'd get away that easy did you?

I really love the Spark Maiden reference info and the pic that came along with it. Can I borrow some ideas? My own idea is a heroine with limited magical abilities has a pair of magical bracelets to focus and amplify her attack/defence spells. Said bracelets also protect her forearms like Wonder Woman's bracelets.

I've always been hesitating about developing something around this character.
Thanks, it'll make things easier if I know she has a few fans

This is great. I think this is the first time you've shown Marie out of costume, so it's cool to see what she looks like. And to be honest, I initially wasn't crazy about the idea when you changed her from the flame sword to the bracelet, but the versatility/new powers of the bracelet are enough to make me change my mind.
BTW, now that we've seen what Marie looks like, isn't it time to drag out the old "kidnap the girl in her secret identity as bait for her own super self" trope? Especially with Marie being the rich daughter of a diplomat who lives with someone studying law; sounds like obvious abduction bait to me!

I actually thought no one noticed about the fire sword becoming a fire bracelet. Yeah it had several purposes: first I never figured out how to integrate a scabbard into her costume, and the only fire sword wasn't sufficient and was also too destructive by itself. Glad you approved the change in the end
Marie as been a couple of times, but not really in her every day civilian outfit, good thing I dragged that out.
And, in fact, the "kidnap the girl in her secret identity as bait for her own super self" trope, is something I have in mind for a very long time, I'm not going to do it in the near future, but I definitely want to make it happen some day
