Description
I am known, on a website for fictitious stock trading (another intellectual toy), as Tesseract. When I decided to join Deviantart, I thought that name would be sufficiently rare that I could use it here. How cool, I thought: I could have a universal web name after an abstract geometrical character. So I designed this as my logo, thinking it would look good as an icon; sort of a button with an odd, mobile snowflake trapped in it. Come to find out, the name was taken. Oh, well: here it is anyway, 'cause I still like the way it turned out. (Technically, this is known as a three-dimensional, orthogonal view of a tesseract).Related content

From a 2d standpoint it looks similar to the gem from the animated movie The Secret Of Kells. xD
It took me a couple minutes of looking at it to finally recognize it from the models I've seen on Wikipedia.

A) Oh ok. I've never been sure about that. What does a 3D cube's 2D projection look like then? I'll fond out.
B) That is true, but uniqueness isn't a problem for me, only for the usernames. Currently I am using a much more simple one, probably the same image that you found on Wikipedia.
If I use it though, I'll make sure to credit you, but should I use your username here, or maybe have a link to this page?

Credit me as you wish, and thank you for having the consideration to do so (if you use my username, my avatar will show up as a link to this page).

Or a 2D projection of a tesseract, right? That looks great! I also have a problem with my username. Never thought it would become common. I wonder if I started it.
Um, is it okay with you if I use this as my avatar for forums and things?

A.) I started this from a diagram of a tesseract on Wikipedia, and it was identified as a three-dimensional projection. Since I don't know enough geometry to say whether this could also be considered 2D, I honestly couldn't say with authority; but looking at this figure, I would personally doubt it (if you look closely, it seems composed of four three-dimensional cubes, interlaced).
B.) I'm highly flattered you'd want to use this to represent yourself, and my first impulse is to say yes; but you should consider the possibility of my granting the same request to another: One of the surest ways to stay unique is to invent your own symbols or to acquire the exclusive rights to those invented by others. So: use it if you must, but I think it's a bad idea (also, if you do use it, please identify the source).
