Description "Funeral Arrangements" 8x12" Watercolor on paper.

This artwork is about peace and acceptance of where we come from and where we're going;
the universe where life miraculously coalesced and the idea of that same endless space we
return to. Composed as a part of the figure, the universe shines through stars in her hair,
decorated by a growth of funeral flowers. The hummingbirds, a symbol of energy and
immortality, are an integral example in the scientific study of archetypal frequencies in
relation to healing and spirituality, they represent the intangible and abstract idea of the soul.

This is gorgeous! Do you have any advice for beginner watercolor users? Any help so someday I could make stuff like this?

Of course! Art can be very psychological , I've come to find. The most important thing for most people is to learn to turn off your brain. Don't be distractedly concerned with if it will be good, or realistic, proportional, or anything! Just let it be what it's going to be, go with it! I think the development of a strong sense of style comes from trusting yourself, learning from mistakes, and knowing what you like. This can be especially true with watercolors because they tend to have a mind of their own. There are certainly classes that can teach you to control them, but I've found success letting the paint tell me what to do, rather than the other way around. Also, use a reference- don't just try to pull it all out of your head, use whatever inspires you and make it your own. Lastly, give yourself permission to fail- because it's not really failing, its learning, and everyone makes mistakes- even Van Gogh.

Beautiful painting. I'm a beginner too. In my case I'm trying to control my impulse to throw every pigment at every painting. I might just stop holding back now.

Paint has a life of its own, trust it and it wont let you down I promise! And try to remember that even bad work can be productive, nothing beats a learning experience , especially if you're open-minded enough to accept it
