Description
We’re An American Band no.348, by Grand Funk from the album Were An American BandOut on the road for forty days
Last night in Little Rock put me in a haze
Sweet, sweet Connie, doin' her act
She had the whole show and that's a natural fact
Up all night with Freddie King
I got to tell you, poker's his thing
Booze and ladies, keep me right
As long as we can make it to the show tonight
We're an American band
We're an American band
We're comin' to your town
We'll help you party it down
We're an American band

Love the poster ! - Great job . --- I kind of grew up with Grand Funk always being in the background of my rock tastes
I remember when Terry Knight ( a DJ ) formed his own group 'Terry Knight and The Pack' and had a minor hit with The Yardbird
song "Mister You're A Better Man Than I " ---the went on to manage ( form ? ) Grand Funk ----- I don't know - I always thought
of them as a 'peoples' band -- gritty , loud - but a bit 'generic' -- ( kind of like a rival to 'Blue Cheer' for loudest band ) ---
I do remember I did love one song a lot ---> www.youtube.com/watch?v=mA-CBX…
quite a performance and phenomena !

Yes, rockin' tune, did not know that was them. And with that gritty, in-yer-face seventies vibe!

funny - it a basic two chord song - but it's the singing and energy they put into it - well recorded too.

Appreciate the comment! I will check out the YouTube link. I forgot how much I love this song, and it’s cool that the drummer (Terry Knight?) is belting out this tune. It was a task finding a song that matched the idea and energy of this piece, this tune seemed to fit! Thanks for the grand “band trivia.”

I never knew the names of this band - but Terry Knight was not their
drummer - but their manager . Yeah - it's a great video !

Yeah, the drummer, and his hair, quite a presence. I like (from songfacts.com) the story of how they were gonna break up, and in dire need of a HIT, and their manager (Terry Knight?) suggested they write a song about their life at the time, on the road (We're comin' to your town. We'll help you party it down), and they did, and got their biggest hit ever!
