Why hate something you do well?
Where do you live? Are there no models there? Ask friends, or stranges on the street, you'd be surprised to might say yes. But don't forget your model releases.

Yea... my frustration is fueled by the fact that I had (stressing HAD) a model shoot scheduled for yesterday and I did a lot of research and was really excited only to be turned down... hate it when things like that happen

May I ask what it was you were researching? ANd just so you know, many many photographers get turned down and stood up on a continual basis. It doesn't matter if you are a good photographer of a mediocre one, it simply happens. Don't lose heart. It will turn out just fine, keep pluggin away and keep asking. When someone finally follows through in being your model, I am sure the images will be spectacular!
