Description
Finally the color version is done. This picture felt very different to the previous ones due to the special light and it's killed of every last one of my nerves. xD;;;Now I'm looking forward to a few days rest from painting anything pink. Seriously, I've felt colorblinded while working on some parts and areas. x___X
Hope you like it and I'm happy to hear your opinions.

Ooh how did you get those evening colors? Looks amazing! You use tablet right?

I often use nature as an inspiration for the atmosphere I want to create. I remember having a hard time coloring thise one, as the palette was very much monocrome and hard on the eyes. The background was done lastly.
Yes, I use my trusty Wacom Tablet. The outlines for this painting were drawn and inked on paper though. :3

I have tried to pain evening colors a few times but I never came close to this. Good job. And these funny frogs make a nice bonus

Keep trying and remember that no sunset is like the other. Figure out which colors are lacking from the palette and I'm sure you'll be good to go!

Rocky probably didn't, as of the youngsters, I think most of them are pretty bright and learnt something. Wether it's catching fly or catching fish with a fly... who knows. A fish would be a larger morsel for sure...

A fish? Hmm better not be too big (or the hunter would become prey)!

Hehe, there's no way of telling. Ah, looking at the picture brings up memories. I've never drawn so many Rocky-clones in my life. At the end I didn't want to draw another frog, but they just kept coming! XD

One way to tell would be to figure out if this scene happened before or after the gator caught that tiger. If it's after then the frogs are safe for at least a few days hopefully.

demiveemon In reply to tesamon [2018-01-02 16:58:21 +0000 UTC]
I'd say some time after. There are no babyfrogs in the original Siesta-scene. As I recall it, there are some in Pain in the Jungle, and then the swarm in this one.
If Pete got to keep his meal, it would have lasted him for weeks, for sure. But I'm still holding out hope, that Al'Capone made a grand mistake. Maybe by climbing out while Pete yawned, or by inducing hickups....

You do?? Oh but I thought he was a bad guy in the jungle. Plus he could harm my fav, Rocky the frog, so I'm sorry but I'd vote for him to stay safe inside the gator. That's a jungle law right there.Β Β Β

Haha that's true. But for this case I'd be frog lover first. Rocky must be safe, even for the sake of that dangerous tiger! Besides, that gator looks so happy with his meal.

Rocky is like a cockroach. If the entire jungle were to blow up, he'd survive it unscaved somehow. xD Luckily, the jungle won't blow up.

Which jungle picture was more difficult to color?

demiveemon In reply to decay125 [2016-01-10 19:44:49 +0000 UTC]
Hm, I remember having trouble coloring the first one, but that was mainly because it was the first time I used SAI and I had problems separating the outlines from the background. XD
When it comes to coloring itself, this one was very testing as I had to think outΒ of the box and the monotype of colors was pretty straining to the eyes. XD

Funny, you are the second person mentioning SAI recently. Now I'm thinking I should check it myself, I'm always curious about new tools and techniques. How do you like it?
π: 0 β©: 1
demiveemon In reply to decay125 [2016-01-10 20:13:22 +0000 UTC]
I like it. It feels more intuitive to me, than Photoshop. I'm still learning as I go, but I like Sai and it usually isn't slowing down the system as much as some other art programs. It does miss some pretty basic tools though, like one for drawing circles and there is no text tool. From what I've heard, Sai has been discontinued, but if you'd like to give it a try, I can email you the mobile version I'm using.
