Description Finally the color version is done. This picture felt very different to the previous ones due to the special light and it's killed of every last one of my nerves. xD;;;

Now I'm looking forward to a few days rest from painting anything pink. Seriously, I've felt colorblinded while working on some parts and areas. x___X

Hope you like it and I'm happy to hear your opinions.

Awww your jungleΒ looksΒ like a nice place to live.Β I think you got the evening colors on spot there! What tools did you use for coloring part?

Thank you. I think it's a very nice place indeed, although I imagine, that the parrots make a lot of noise all day long.
I use Paint Tool SAI for both drawing and coloring. In this case the outlines where made on paper, but I think that the program works very well for drawing. It's not so demanding on the computer as Photoshop or Corel Painter seem to be.

They have two ladies (ok, only one behaves ladylike, the other one talks a lot). :3
sta.sh/22bebiberrdw?edit=1 The one with the pink nose is Molly. She is the oldest and spends a lot of time in my presence. The one with the black nose is Nicki. She's the one talking all the time. Nicki turned up one cold November morning under mom's parked car six or so years ago.

Aww. I'm hoping to get one or two cats later on. I've read that Russian blue is a breed that might work well with allergic people as individuals produce less of the allergen. My hubby is allergic, so I want to try and find a cat that wont cause him a lot of trouble.

demiveemon In reply to sawitreee [2016-01-09 20:55:43 +0000 UTC]

She isn't with me, but when I found her wandering the street, she was so lonely and hungry, that it overwrote all her fear and shyness. I mean, one of my parent's cats stood and shouted at her less than a meter away when I had let her inside, and the poor thing just ignored her while devouring the food I offered her. So we bonded very quickly (she even slept for a bit in my lap).
A few days later some kids came and caused a ruckus at the frontdoor (running up the stairs, knocking and running down again) and she got scared and hid in the basement for several hours.
Same thing when my parents came home from their trip. Then she would hide most of the time in the basement, only coming up at night or very briefly to get something to eat. At one point she had waited for too long and then was stuffing herself with food, with the result that she had to throw it all up again five minutes later.
I had to leave for Denmark, only a few days later, so she hadn't gotten over her fear by that time, but she had started to show some signs of gaining trust to my mother. Luckily things have calmed down now and she spends most of the time upstairs. She is still a bit uneasy around my father and I do have the suspicion, that she has experienced violence before, because of how she sometimes reacts to items held in hands or some sounds.

I think she got all her shots now. We've chipped her and then we've done the typical vaccinations that we always do with out cats and now she's also gotten the rabies shot (which is mandatory for her to be able to leave the country along with ID-chip and a traveling passport for the EU). Now we need to wait another three weeks for the rabies shot to be valid, but then she'll be good to go. Hopefully we'll be ready to come pick her up by then, but I have my doubts, since most of the last month has been spent either sick or with holiday stuff. xD

Sadly my sister passed away in a car crash about two months ago. At the time we we're all sick with winter flu, so it took a couple of weeks before we could make the trip to Sweden, so I could go see my family and of course, attend to her funeral...
We got back about two weeks ago and were able to bring the cat with us. She's settling in fine and has just begun to go outside for a bit. She is a great source of joy and comfort for me in these dark times.

Great work on soft evening colors! And I like this type of humor that makes everything seem amusing. Although the frog and the fish would probably beg to disagree.

Thank you! THe coloration felt very taxing on the eyes while working on it, but I really like how it came out. Especially the colors in the water as they provided a nice break from pink tones. XD
I bet its Rocky's biggest catch ever, although he was aiming for that fly that's flying through the picture.

pinta34 In reply to demiveemon [2014-01-06 18:40:29 +0000 UTC]

Very welcome! Did it take you a lot of time to find the right color?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

demiveemon In reply to pinta34 [2014-01-06 18:49:09 +0000 UTC]

I remember that I redid the water at least once, but that was towards the end of the coloration. I also tried out a different way of coloring that time (I had a dark blue layer with a low opacity setting). Probably did some changes along the way. As I'm sur you know, when working on a bright,Β  white background, colors tend to look different compared to what they look like once there's less blinding white. So I usually end up fiddling around with colors.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

pinta34 In reply to demiveemon [2014-01-06 18:53:28 +0000 UTC]

Exactly! It's really not easy to find suitable colors, but when you finally manage to find one, it feels so good.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

demiveemon In reply to pinta34 [2014-01-06 19:13:09 +0000 UTC]

It does indeed. Now I've gotten used to having a background layer with a darker color in the background that I can turn on and off when I feel that the color I'm working on get's too close to the background. It's very useful to spot where you've gotten outside of the outlines as well. Another technique that I'm not using all too often (sadly, it really helps) is doing the background first. xD

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

pinta34 In reply to demiveemon [2014-01-06 19:28:09 +0000 UTC]

Background layer with a darker color? That's a good idea. I might try it next time I'll give a new PS version another try. So far I'm not such a fan. But I can still change my mind.Β  Β

demiveemon In reply to pinta34 [2014-01-06 19:46:36 +0000 UTC]

Haha. Personally I think I'm more or less incompatible with photoshop. I use SAI instead but still use PS for some things that SAI lacks (like text and circles).

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

pinta34 In reply to demiveemon [2014-01-06 19:58:56 +0000 UTC]

I know both. The new PS has just way too many features and tools for me. But I'm not that much into drawing anyway, I prefer photography now.

demiveemon In reply to pinta34 [2014-01-22 17:44:58 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, whenever I need to edit photos, I go for PS. :3
