Description 1- Bring back junction points on paper after measuring their proportions from a photo of a skeleton. Connect the lines and use such guidelines for a summary outline of the silhouette.

2- Refine the silhouette and arrange the integument. For quills/proto-feathers, use a permanent black nib.

3- Begin to color with felt-tips or acrylics. I usually start to color the head, and then expand the color to the rest of the body, using fanciful patterns and interesting contrasts.

4- Add any stripes, spots and main artistic details for a better artistic performance. Fade to give the effect the tridimensionality.

5- Use crayons for the finishing touches. Adjust any inaccuracies after the scan. Add the measurement bar, sign et voilà!

You have such creative designs for the dinosaurs' colors!

So Parasaurolophus  had quills too?

I've got to try this style sometime, Will Coloured Pencils work instead of markers?

Usually I use pastel colors only for the nuances and shades (they are evident in some of my work as Nankangia or Leaellynasaura because I gave them a white base). The effect with markers is livelier but the one with pastels, is softer. What is certain is that if you use only pastels, they will consume in less than no time...

Me and markers usually don't agree on what colours should look like, the colour pale for instance.

It is not always necessary to first decide which colors to use, I often get carried away by the fantasy of the moment, or after using the first color comes easy choose a second color that would match well to the first and so on...

I guess we just have Different Colouring Processes.

but yours ends up looking alot neater because Pencils like variation and bubbles in the lead.
