Description
Original Description: In my world goblins live in holes in the ground inside dark forests that provides both shadow and good cover. The deep holes have a network of dug out tunnels and chambers. A good settlement is always chosen for its rich soil, meaning its good for gardening and hunting above ground as well as mining and protection under ground.Goblin settlers find a glen, start digging and build a main entrance on top of the hole. A camp consists of a circular mound with palisades. The mound has small burrows that serves as temporary homes until everyone can move underground. The area is always guarded by a boarder of scarred guard stones to fend off evil.
As the underground society expands the main hole is covered by a fortified structure that is constantly modified and upgraded as the growing population requires better protection. Grass, bushes and trees are allowed to grow wildly on top and around the structure to help hide the main entrance from outsiders.
NOTES: In short, these fortified entrances are the main gates into underground goblin settlements. The bigger the gate the bigger the settlement. A fort would be a village, a fortress a town and a citadel a city.

Was linked here from Shabazik. I feel inspired by this, and will build one for my tabletop wargaming.

Quite the nice and defendable structure. Probably helps when any potential foes are twice you size ^^

Oh yes! And if any invaders breach their first line of defense and enters the keep they'll find out the hard way that they've entered a maze with narrow tunnels, funnels, traps and dead ends. The size of an army won't matter when your soldiers have to crawl around in single lines, in the dark, underground.
