thank you. its one of the first pieces i ever sold. sold it to the dean at the school i went to. a coworker recently went his house and said he's still got it hanging up.

no problem! wow thats one luckey dean to have this . I'm early in my figure drawing stages, but if I practice enough I hope I am able to get even near as detailed as you! keep up the awesome work !

Another amazing figure study. Raw, emotional with the color you used, and captivating. I really appreciate this type of work because it's so free and loose yet you have to be so planned in your "approach"....I'm not really bullshitting, I really truly believe this work is so hard to create which is why I absolutely love it.
Love the way you used the slight blue in the red to kind of ground it in a sort of struggle of color and movement.
I'm pretty much gushing now. Love your work. Definite watcher here.

Thank you for the watch and critique. Contrary to what some people might think, this style of painting actually takes a great deal of discipline. You must be able to work quick and with confidence and know when to stop.

Damn amazing. Solid figure but free line. Realistic but interpretative coloring. Amazing.

What did you use the paint thinner for?

DEREKoverfield In reply to Utanapishtim [2007-09-17 13:26:05 +0000 UTC]

thanks for the great comments! i used the paint thinner to create a wash with pretty early in the drawing. you can still see it in the face and the lower torso.

You're welcome!

I see the wash- very cool. And thank you for the favorite! : )

These studies and such are damn near masterful. Reminds me of Renaissance artists studies (Michelangelo etc.)
The color work too is gorgeous. Its a sorta hot and cold. I really get a sense of power and appreciation/love for the body from your works.

Beautiful. The depth and the movement are stunning.

I have fave'd this, and featured it in my journal, alongside 43 other standout pieces I also posted a news article at [link]

I want to support art that I am moved by, and this is no exception. Please stop by and support the other artists, and comment on any of my art that may move you.

Sincerely be17aiah.
