You know that the slap is caused by a mistake of the artist. Hank was never supposed to slap Jan. He should just wave his hand as if to casually bat away a fly.

I am aware of the discrepancy between the plot outline by Shooter and the art from Bob Hall.

Am I the only one who thinks we've held this over him for far to long? I mean, it's not like he killed her. (More than most have to say about a certain "Naked Gun" actor with the last name of a yellow-skinned family in Springfield)

Well, most people remember that he backhanded her while she was trying to talk him out of sending a robot to attack the Avengers just so he could be the hero again. Sorry, but you have to tell it like it is.

He was having a mental breakdown! Are we going to blame him for that, too?

He had been having a mental breakdown caused by a chemical agent which was supposedly treated. Even so he was able to plan and build a robot to attack the Avengers and plan to rescue them by exploiting it's weakness (Which he failed t.o do as Janet had to defeat it). This was after he had attacked a man who was surrendering and had been increasing violent with Janet for some time. Mental Breakdown explains only so much.

You might also want to remember Ultron is based on his Brainwaves and Thought patterns from before his schizophrenic break. So Hank is not the lily white that some people paint him as.

At the time of the slap he was CLEARLY in the wrong. And while he does not need to be punished for it (and isn't) it should still be remembered both as:

See how much he has worked on his inferiority complex issues

And

Even great men have flaws.

Never claimed Jan was perfect, but still not a reason to strike a woman. Especially, a woman you claim to love. Though if you are gonna compare bad deed to bad deed, creating a event that could injure or kill people you call friends is far worse than some head games played with you because you wouldn't commit or let the woman go.

Between this and the Pymshove, ol' Hank has a moveset ready-made for an appearance in a fighting game!
