Description
Welcome to see me and Kathrin Diestel's show on Endstation [link] 24/6 - 22/7Endstation is the name of a big art exhibition taking place in an old Hospital just outside Bonn, Germany.
Wahrheit usw means, as you might have guessed, the thruth and so on. The show is a about a hospital, St. Joseph. The pictures presented are from the archives of the hospital!
St Joseph Krankenhaus is just a tiny part of the creation, a miniscule measure of our universe, a true world within a much bigger one, a microcosm of all material existence, time and space; concepts and beliefs, the very cosmos itself. St. J. is an institution that harbours all follies, all illusions, all truths possible. Even maladies! Or as they say at St, Joseph: Everything is possible!
Illness and madness are rarely cherished qualities. Nevertheless these unfortunate conditions can be instrumental in lifting the veil from our earthly soil so the spirit of cosmos can shine like the beloved sun that warms our bodies on cold winter mornings. But don't get us wrong, to the brave and maybe slightly mad doctors of St Joseph there were no contradictions. Fot them the distance between soul and soil was short, not even measurable. Juggling the opposites was at the very core of the thinking and practice of the hospital. Gay science! Many heartfelt and healthy laughters could be heard in the hallways of St Joseph. In the little hospital chapel just behind the main entrance each sermon was ended with the short phrase: so, let us laugh!
Once again: have a nice summer!

What a fascinating comment. I wish I could visit the show. Illness (and madness, though it is rarely called that anymore) send our culture's sense of normalcy reeling. Which, up until recently, was found extremely threatening by Society-with-a-capital-S. "Have A Nice Summer" to you guys, too!
