The hammer is made of 999 silver and the chain is sterling silver.

Together the work took about 20h

Yes. Unfortunately I lost it last summer, I bet some trolls or spirits took it... But I made a new one and now everyone is happy.

And thanks, I feel flattered. ^^

But at least you know that somewhere there is a troll or a wood spirit that is gratefull for the necklace.
Oh, I just love trolls and fantasy creatures, they make our life so full of color.

I'm sure the spirits took it, and liked it, since I have been very lucky after I lost it.

Oh yes, they are a part of my world. I can almost see them every day.

Really? Cool! You must be lucky in general because I saw your photos with Petri Lindroos! I think it's so cool! I admire him for having such great relatinship with his fans, that he is not with his nose up!

Yea, he seems like a nice person, I don't know if I myself would manage to always be nice to everyone... But then again, those people earn their living because of their fans. Musicians who look down on their fans and despise them, have lost the game and should work with something else...

Deryllithe In reply to Aranglinn [2010-01-17 19:52:02 +0000 UTC]

Nope, it's made of a material called ArtClay. (I do not own casting gears... )

Aranglinn In reply to Deryllithe [2010-01-17 20:08:49 +0000 UTC]

ahh! I see, well... I don't either, so I get my castings done at the same shop where I buy my tools and materials... I'd like to try doing the castings myself but it's not easy with noone to learn from x.x...

still I haven't tried art clay yet... seems to be pretty interesting but it's too expensive xDD

Deryllithe In reply to Aranglinn [2010-01-18 13:44:23 +0000 UTC]

D'aww, it would be so great to get into a artisan crafts school or something, to have tools and a teacher and stuff.....

Yeah, it's really expensive... But you don't need too much tools, and it's pretty easy. (Though it feels a bit like cheating...)

Aranglinn In reply to Deryllithe [2010-01-18 15:07:55 +0000 UTC]

haha, yeah, that'd be so cool, still, what kind of artisan crafts school so you have there? I always read about people in finland, norway, sweden, etc going to art schools and then creating the most incredibles pieces of art and crafts but I've never heard of anything even close here in my city (even if it's the capital of the country) so is really difficult to find something with the experience to one's needs... I learned the basics with some guy I met in a medieval fair but now there's nothing more I could learn from him so everything from then on has been kind of experimentation... fun, but slow xD

asdasdasd xDD

also yeah... it feels a bit like cheating but... the curiosity is stronger xD

Deryllithe In reply to Aranglinn [2010-01-18 16:47:00 +0000 UTC]

We do have some artisan crafts schools, but they are mostly quite superficial. I believe the best way to specialize on something particular, is to serve as an apprentice. Of course an art school is a good base, and gives different opportunities.

Experimenting is really amusing.

...yes, curiousity... and the need to do things....

mm... when I left the first thing I satrted studying I planed to start studying art in the university, with mention on jewelry... but yep, It was quite supperficial and in all that time I could improve and learn by myself almost everything they would have teached me so I desisted with the idea (this was on 2007)

and after a couple years I can't say that I regret that but there's still so much I'd like to learn... asdasdasd xD

I'm going to start studying jewellery design next autumn, and I'm really excited about it, because I might get a chance to work at the Finnish National Opera on the working periods. HOW COOL IS THAT?!

Yes, jewellery, props, random stuff... Interesting things. I mean, how often do you get a chance to design stuff to a medieval queen, for example?

How do you work silver?

Deryllithe In reply to GreenSprite [2009-09-30 15:15:47 +0000 UTC]

Well thank you! I had to wait an eternity to get a snowy background....

This work particularly is made of a silvermaterial called Artclay, and decorated with silverthread. Mostly my works are made in the "traditional" way though.
