Well I hope he does, double matte gloss it up and put a solid black design frame on it with no glare glass. *jealous* ha ha

Wow! That water looks turly amazing. I think you are ready for that fruit picture you showed be with the splashing water. I think you out did yourself with this one. The fade in the letters are amazing too, you are so damn pro!

thank you keira! i don't know about the fruit picture just yet-- remember that's in color. i figure i'd fade the letters a bit by the clouds to give it a "foggy" look, you know? i don't know i tried to be more creative in this piece. i think i over did it because it's so busy.

I think it looks great, and the fade was an excellent idea and does make it look foggy. It doesnt look to busy to me, but defaintly reminds me of a movie poster so i think it is great!

thats very true and i stopped drawing for a few months just because i didnt have time and i realized when i started up again i had gotten better... somehow

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

desdainart In reply to Dibbs0nJasperxx [2010-10-06 22:01:37 +0000 UTC]

you know what.. that's exactly what happened to me! i stopped drawing for 3 years because i had my son and i didn't have time to draw any more. once isaac started preschool i had so much time on my hands i decided to draw again thinking i'd have to teach myself all over again. when i did my first portrait i was like whoa.. this is better than anything i've ever done before! so weird, huh?

yes! they say not drawing for a while makes you bad but after i stopped for a bout a year i opened my sketchbook like great ill probably be terrible and then bam! i was like wow this is great!!!

my mother in law always told me being an artist is a talent because i would always say drawing is a skill that anyone can learn-- which i did learn. i believe she's right-- so regardless of how many or how long the lapses are an artist will pick up right from where they left off.

Dibbs0nJasperxx In reply to desdainart [2010-10-06 22:38:26 +0000 UTC]

i say the same thing because u can teach yourself to draw but it takes much more time than when you have a natural ability for it i guess i was always able to draw but still theres TONS TONS TONS that i have to work on and teach myself and stuff that ill probably never be able to do so even if you can naturally draw theres still alot you cna learn regardless

desdainart In reply to Dibbs0nJasperxx [2010-10-07 15:45:26 +0000 UTC]

oh, yes. i totally agree with you. i've never felt like i had a natural ability to draw-- in fact, i was never interested in art at all. i'm more of a math & science type of gal. so when i started teaching myself how to draw i figure anyone else can too if i can with zero experience.

my mother in law also said that an artist takes a lot of time to practice and perfect their skills but no amount of training nor practice can substitute what they have: talent. so you, my artist friend, have talent. so keep practicing and training yourself-- you can only get better and better.

its more about training your eyes to see i notice when im drawing i see things differently and notice shading and shapes that i wouldnt normally notice its hard to explain but in the art how to book drawing from the left side of the brain she explains it really well. i liek buying the how to books ecause it shows medifferent artists sstyles and how they draw.

haha i wouldnt say talent im not that good you have talent! true true i cant get any worse hahaha

desdainart In reply to Dibbs0nJasperxx [2010-10-07 22:48:23 +0000 UTC]

oh, i see. well, i'm definitely a left brainer as it is. i'm a very objective person and that's why i'm surprised i can even do any artwork because it's just too subjective. although they say artists are right brainers i guess it makes sense to collaborate the left brain as well. i do enjoy looking at other people's work especially WIPs and techniques-- that's why i make a habit of posting WIPs hoping that someone can benefit from them.

Dibbs0nJasperxx In reply to desdainart [2010-10-08 01:00:43 +0000 UTC]

or is it right side of the brain... 0_0 i just forgot which it is for the book..damn. ahah! yes i love WIPs so much because for me sketching takes the longest and is aggravating and deffinaly benifit from your WIPs its nice to see what you do in each step

desdainart In reply to Dibbs0nJasperxx [2010-10-08 05:15:13 +0000 UTC]

yay! i'm glad you enjoy my WIPs. i'm always afraid people are going to get annoyed like i'm blowing up their inbox with WIPs because believe it or not some people don't like WIPs???!! what is wrong with them! you are absolutely correct... i see it like this-- people who love art and go to galleries only get to see the end result but they don't have the satisfaction of breathing life into the creation. it's too bad people miss out on most of the beauty within the work.

yea exatly i love to see the steps and how the artist fixes mistakes at s they go along and change things if it doesnt work out it shows me that what ou ketch isn always going to be what your final looks like. i would have loved to see works in progress from well known aritists like davinci and stuff but unfourtunaly hes not alive anymore. to all people who kate WIPS *stab stab*
