Description
Scoliferous Demons are the weakest and most common type of Demon, but at the same time they account for the most deaths. Scoliferous Demons are roguelike Demon's that follow no code except their own. Regardless of what higher level Demons do, The Scoliferous Demon will never change, never stop entering human worlds, and never end its ravenous desire for flesh.Scoliferous Demons desire flesh in all forms, but primarily they want to devour beings of high intellect. It is not known why the Scoliferous Demon prioritizes intelligent prey over beasts, but it could either be a form of sadism or a Demonic instinct. Scoliferous Demons will charge across dimensions until they come to a place with life. Once there, the Demon will stalk the world and haunt it like a ghost haunts a house. Sometimes invisible, sometimes slightly tangible, the Demon will solidify at random increments (though usually once per two days) and attack intelligent entities. During the attack a Scoliferous Demon will single out an individual, grab said individual, and devour them (its huge mouth has hidden fangs). Then the Demon will return to its former ghostly state.
Many times Scoliferous Demons can go for months without people discovering the source of strange dissapearances. Once found, a Scoliferous Demon can be easily killed by someone who is prepared, as they can be injured like people, and do not fight intelligently.
Scoliferous Demons have been known to die on their very first invasion: mindlessly attacking a stronger entity and getting rekt in the process.

I know, ain't that cute?
It's true though. They could pop into existence and decide to fight, like... a hippo or something.

Could they decide to appear underwater and fight a colossal deep sea organism

They don't do very well in water, so most likely not. A Scoliferous Demon in the intangible phase could survive in water (which makes sense because if they can survive in the space between dimensions they can survive in liquid), but when solidified they are just as affected by it as we are. This means they will generally stay on land.
Furthermore, the most intelligent species are more plentiful on land. Pigs, apes, dogs, and of course humans are in abundance. The ocean has dolphins and Whales, but they are rarer and faster prey. The chance that they would not only try to attack, but successfully manage to chase down and fight a deep sea organism is very low.
I suppose if an entity like Cthulhu existed he would be attacked by Scoliferous Demons since he is very intelligent, but it would be the equivalent of a fly being attracted to a bug zapper.
