Wow, this is so cool! I like how Loki's mutable gender was captured in this picture--male, but you can see how he'd turn into a female too! Β I also love all the gold and silver in their outfits. Cool designs!

In one of the myths, Loki tied his manhood to a goat to entertain a giantess. MANHOOD.

I don't have a picture of his cock. But I think it's obvious that he has no breast

If the one at the lest is Thor, then Loki is the on eon the right, but he doesn't look like a man...
Unless he's just using his transformation skills.

Nicely done.Β In particular, I like the interpretation of Mjolnir - with the lightning streaming from it and the sense of raw power.Β The iron gloves are good too - nicely detailed.Β Thanks for sharing both drawings - they're quite lovely.Β

If Loki's an androgynous male, why didja give him girly hips?

Do you actually know what is androgynous?

binkibonsai In reply to Develv [2013-12-29 08:16:55 +0000 UTC]
"partly male and partly female in appearance; of indeterminate sex."
tho my bad, did not mean to say androgynous, was thinking it and happened to type it.
My question should have been more along the lines of
If Loki's male, why didja give him girly hips?

Partly this and that - this would be a hermaphrodite...androgynous is a woman that looks like male and vice versa.
Never mind.
Actually Loki can switch genders since he is a shapeshifter. Many times in Prose Edda he turned into a female disguise to trick gods. One of his names is "Mother of witches". Because he ate the heart of a witch and got pregnant. That means he has female organs if we think... why not have female hips while being still a man?
In addition, if you want to know my sister used Johny Weir's body as an example to draw Loki. Because this skater is famous for resemblance with MCU Loki :3

Are you sure that you don't confuses Loki with some other god/godess? You know Loki is supose to be the son of fearsome giant and the father to the creaturse that brings the doomsday (Hel the godess of death, The Fenrir wolf, midgardssnake, Sleipnir and a most of the fearsome creatures from nordic mythology). He is literarly the leader of evil. I like that you don't just paint the another copy oc the char from the marvel-series but the mythological Loki. Even togh that fair "man" isΒ a confusing picture. Β (I know my english is quite horrible). Are you sure it isn't Freja?

Well, If you read more literature on Norse mythology, deeper, you will reveal that Loki is also a mother. He is the mother of all ogres and witches and according to different version he bore the three monsters, and Angriboda is nobody but his another form. It is a known fact that many times Loki turned into a womanly disguise, and the giantess Thokk was him. But other scholars assume that it was Angriboda - so, consequently that must be Loki.

According to Edda Loki was described as a young fair man. So why not draw him like this? I think these illustrations perfectly define this truth 25.media.tumblr.com/7cf352e79aβ¦
Lastly. I want to tell you that if the god is evil it doesn't means he should be ugly or manly

interesting, I've never heard of the moter-part before, but it does not surprise me since the norse gods shapeshifted a lot. I apologize if I sounded a little too skeptical, I was just so taken by surprise when I read that it was Loki. There is no right or wrong way to paint something (especially when it concerns something as interpretative freely as mythology). I agree with yourΒ last sentence and do not think I claimed otherwise (not my intention if so), I don't really know where you got it from.

They are OC's based on Thor and Loki. OC's often have liberties.
With that said, I guess that maybe she wanted Loki to look like Lucifer (who is often portrayed as angelic and beautiful). He is often used as model for big villains.

Wasn't itΒ "Illustration from my sister's comics about mythological Thor and Loki"? Was it her OC then or was it just her book? Anyway, I realized that I sounded a little harsher in my criticism than what was intended. One can paint Loki how they want, I just wondered who he had seen in the comic Β

Yes. You're right. Actually in Norse Myth Lok is described as a gorgeous man. Moreover he many times takes disguise of female to trick the gods. Also, he is considered a mother of troll and witches.
